I applied to a medium sized department. Over 1,000 people applied for the job, 600+ were allowed to test, 200+ were interviewed, and only 45 were selected for the academy. Out of the 45 recruits, only 7 people had degrees. College education is highly viewed upon, but if you can't pass the tests then you don't get selected. It doesn't matter what kind of degree you have. They're just looking for someone who is willing to better themselves. The more CJ classes you have, the easier it will be to understand the material you'll be faced with. I'm including a book that helped me kick some major tail on the entry exams and helped me understand the basics of what recruiters were looking for. Other than that...start running, doing pushups, and smoking yourself at least three days a week. Crossfit was a major part of my academy.
