You may want to look into investing in something like this . It's the same I used in physical therapy but about 1/3 the cost. It's the size of a chair and you can target every part of your body and get a strong workout. The springs provide resistance and consistency throughout the motion to help cushion your joints. It's extremely low impact and yet you feel a burn fast.

I have similar issues to you and this chair has really helped. I keep it near the tv and use it instead of the couch when watching futurama reruns. Good luck and keep at it!
