Swing bird with pincushion clamp it on a table, the bird holds what you are sewing. Pincushion holds the pins.
Found it on Amazon! Less then $4 and free shipping. You're getting a new pin cushion, You're all getting a pin cushion! lol Amazon
I like the Coco Chanel black and pink.
I love weird specific tools, but you might need to gauge whether your wife already has them or whether she even needs it (I'm more of a casual dressmaker - no self drafting or designing here) but here ya go!

These are mostly the small tool kind of things. If you're looking for a more big ticket gift it would probably be the mat + rotary cutter (biggest mat you can get!) or an overlocker aka serger
I have a MUCH BETTER life hack for your bobby pins: http://www.amazon.com/bwm36-GBLA-Grabbit-Magnetic-Cushion/dp/B0018N6BNI/ref=pd_sim_sbs_ac_5
You piqued my interest so I had a google, I’m pretty sure emery sand powder is what she used.
If anything doesn’t come or you decide you don’t like it, the only addition I can think of would be a magnetic pin holder. I like it better than a pin cushion because you can just drop the pin, rather than needing to aim into the cushion itself. Grabbit Magnetic Sewing Pincushion is the one I’ve had for years—or very similar;Mines from Joanns. I’ve recently upgraded to the Zirkel Pin Cushion which auto rotates the pins so the rounded side points OUT which is super handy and it’s stronger than my old one, so my awful aim still results in pins on the pad.
Interesting. I suppose the magnet is too weak to draw your wrist into dangerous machinery. I prefer a wrist pincushion and own one with a top like this. I do have a magnetic dish for pins and a magnet on a stick for picking up pins.
I don't know if
this is exactly what you saw, but I think it fits the bill. They sell them in multiple different animal shapes.

A lot of the supplies for sewing are specific to the type of sewing and personal preference, so it is tricky to give suggestions. Items anyone can use, IMO, and some themed to Valentine's Day, are Clover flower pins, Wonder clips, a pretty pin cushion, seam gauge, and an acrylic ruler in my favorite size.
