It's a flavor injector, and it's basically just a big syringe.

I've never seen one of these things used in a professional kitchen, which tells me they probably don't work that well.

As promised my recipe for killing this.

Carlyland, this appears so close to your house you need to jump on this and jump on it now.

This is from a post I made two years ago. The formatting sucks, so sorry in advance.
Please forgive the formatting, it is late and I don't want to fix it, but I felt I had to respond. I unfortunately have this plant.
This is what I have learned. However, I suggest you go and read about this nasty little number.
It is native to the sides of volcanoes in Japan, therefore it can survive the harshest environments
It puts out poison from its roots which will kill other plants
The roots are extensive and spread far
If you cut the top of the plant off, it will just cause more shoots to sprout (so don't cut it till you are either going to inject it with Roundup or are cutting it after it has had time to send Roundup into the roots)
If so much as even a 1/4 inch of the leaf hits the ground it has potential to germinate
If it gets out of control at the base of your house it can destroy your foundation
If your bank found this out you could lose your loan
Given all that:
The best way to kill this plant is with planning and very good technical execution

  1. Get Roundup. I am sorry to have to tell you this but this is pretty much the only thing that works. (I am an organic gardener, this almost killed me.)
  2. Get a basting syringe. You can usually find one in the grocery store a. (As an aside. This plant is a real problem in my community, and the county will provide you with industrial type machines to inject the plants with Roundup if you live in a flood plain, I do not live in/on a flood plain so had to do the basting syringe method)
Here is an example from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Marinade-Injector-Syringe-Seasoning-Cooking/dp/B01F36MADU/ref=sr_1_3?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1493686943&sr=1-3&keywords=basting+syringe
  3. Have on hand a dark plastic garbage bag, clippers, syringe, and Roundup. a. The first year I also had a can of orange spray paint so I could keep track of the plants I had treated
  4. On the large plants cut off just above one of the nodes
  5. Put the cuttings in the plastic garbage bag a. DO NOT put in compost or yard recycling bin, this will just enable the plant to spread b. DO NOT leave little bits of leaves on the ground
  6. Fill the basting syringe with Roundup, slowly inject the Roundup into the stem
  7. Repeat with all plants that are large enough
  8. With growth that is too small for the syringe spray with Roundup a. Leave this growth on for several days until the plant is withered b. Cut off and put in plastic bag.
  9. Everything that I have read says that this process usually has to be repeated every year for 3 years. I am on my 5th year, and this year I only have 0 shoots coming up versus 200 the first year (the house had not been lived in for seven years) (Edit from original post.
  10. Every shoot must be treated with Roundup as these things have massive root systems (I have read up to 60 feet, but can't find the original source)
  11. What to do with the plastic bag
    a. Tie it shut
    b. Lay it out in the sun and let it bake for several days in the hot sun (kill that sucker)
    c. Put in garbage to go into land fill, leave in plastic bag
    Take this plant very seriously
Please feel free to email me, as I have been fighting this plant for years. I really can’t stress enough how serious a nuisance this plant is. I can send pictures of the basting syringe and my process. I have scheduled Sunday to work on my plants, so would be happy to take a video or pictures. I don't know if this makes a difference, but my BS is in Horticulture and My Master's in in Plant Genetics with a lot of work in plant conservation.

One thing that completely changed my BBQ game is this meat tenderizer/injector combo, plus it is well under your budget so you could get them a few other accessories or some nice gourmet marinades, or maybe a salt block to cook on. I got one of those for my father in law who loves to bbq and although it took him a couple of goes to figure out the details of cooking with it, he says it is one of the best and most unique gifts he’s received.

I think you might be right; also coined as a flavor injector

Lol, I use a meat injector for VG. Similar to this. It's got a HUGE ga needle and flows it really well.

Here

Any injector of this type will work. I recommend stainless over plastic. The last one I had was plastic and it cracked. Same with a friend of mine who had the exact same model.

You can never go wrong with a thermometer, but if you're looking for some other suggestions.

Aaron Franklin's Meat Smoking Manifesto it's a great read for experienced and amateur smokers.

A nice slicing knife like this, it's nice to have and they don't typically come with knife sets.

An injector to take his meats to the next level.

Man. I was looking through all my stuff.. and most of it seems.. non-random to me.

I guess the most random would be Bayou Classic Seasoning Injector that's on my bar wishlist.. Ideally, it's too pair with Tovolo Ice Molds to make cocktails within an ice sphere. Lol. >< Sorry not really any awesomely randomness from me.. but maybe you'll think differently :D

Pretty California.

You should use a flavor injector needle and pump it full of caramel sauce.

Try getting this .... its awesome. I got it in Harris Teeter, so if you got one by you they should have it. Its on one of those small shelves.
And yeah, at Harris Teeter its for $8. It comes all apart so you can clean it, its made from thick hard plastic, it pushes through 100% VG easily and its really accurate on ml.

The metal adapter is the needle from a seasoning injector ($4) for meat with the point cut off. The adhesive is hot glue, the metal tube doesn't conduct heat well enough to warm the glue. I enjoy using it more than using a bulky plastic lighter sleeve (ala: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00B4H16SI/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?qid=1415995809&sr=8-8&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70). Three days use and the durability is good. Here is a link for the injector.

Here's something that I use for almost every cook I do on my Traeger.

This is just one example. You can find one you like on Amazon. I also love my remote thermometer!

They sell injectors that you use to inject the dressing. Load it up and poke through the thawed turkey skin, into the meat. You don't have to inject a bunch of the dressing, just enough to plump it up. The key is to poke lots of places to get the spices/seasoning throughout the bird. When you fry it, it seals up the outside and traps the moisture in the bird and it's amazing.
