I like these: https://www.amazon.com/Eclipse-Sun-Products-Sleeves-Medium/dp/B00CGDXQEG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1469710759&sr=8-1&keywords=eclipse+sun+sleeves

They're much lighter weight than wearing long sleeves and they wick sweat, which actually does have a cooling effect. I've worn them hiking in 90+ F weather, in full sun.

u/MILK_DUD_NIPPLES · 5 pointsr/cursedimages

I wear those to reduce swelling in my ankles, sometimes. They're called compression socks.

These are exactly the ones I have. They're surprisingly comfortable.

u/cmraarzky · 4 pointsr/running

Completely personal but beyond a good baselayer nothing else I own is running specific for the winter. Up top I'll usually use a compression shirt and then layer a few shirts on top of that culminating in a hoodie (the front pocket is clutch for carrying extra tissues or storing your hat/gloves). Layers are your friend. Bottom wise I'll do compression shorts and/or tights depending on how cold it is and another pair of shorts over top just for another layer. Other than that I wear my normal socks, a buff if needed, a knit hat, and some light gloves. This setup has carried me through the coldest and windiest parts of the winter last year. I made a quick down and dirty jumping off point for you to look at some decent, affordable gear: Tesla tights, Tesla top, Reflective knit hat, Buff, Headlamp, Lightweight gloves. You may want to look at maybe some windproof layers, wool socks, or heavier gloves depending on what the weather actually looks like near you. I wasn't a fan of the yak trax style grips and ended up just using my trail running shoes a lot in the winter, just be careful.

u/leostacks1 · 4 pointsr/running

I'm a big fan of the Tesla compression shirts and pants that amazon sells: https://www.amazon.com/Tesla-TM-MUD11-KLB_Medium-T-Shirt-Baselayer-Compression/dp/B0779M5LKS/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1537277485&sr=8-5&keywords=tesla+compression+shirt&dpID=41YEk-Ek5oL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

Wearing one of these with a sweater or thermal usually keeps me warm. They're not great for rain but you don't feel too soggy.

(for reference, I live in NYC, and it gets cold/windy here in the winter).

Also, here's a link to some compression sleeves that come in white. They might be what you're looking for

Not a server, but I just bought these. Not TOO tight and a pretty good deal.

edit: to wear after knee surgery.

u/Deadpoolssistersarah · 3 pointsr/AskBaking

They make arm length oven mitts, but they wear out fast if you’re using them daily. When I had to wear Kevlar arm sleeves I wore something like this under them to prevent chafing HOPESHINE UV Protection Cooling Arm Sleeves 4-Pairs Sun Protection for Men & Women to Cover Arms for Cycling, Driving, Golf, Basketball and all Outdoor Sports (Army Green+Black+Grey+White) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PMQ1C61/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_oH5jDbPB7KXM6

Honestly I haven't been having the greatest time in my life recently only a handful of people know what's actually going on I'm not one to share my personal life that much with lots of people. I honestly have been trying my best to stay positive with everything and just remind myself that I've had it worse so I know I can get through this. Honestly my vericose veins have been getting worse so I could use these compression socks thanks for a wonderful contest.

u/nomorelegalese · 2 pointsr/running

Try a cool dry compression shirt for the nipple issue. Something like this. It form fits to your body and will eliminate friction. They are quite thin and can be worn under something else.

u/HowDoIHummus · 2 pointsr/bjj

You’re saying no gi?

If you have a few days, there are some nice setups on amazon for relatively cheap.

I usually go with some compression pants and muy thai shorts, and a tight fitting shirt from hm

Honestly any compression pants and shorter/fitted sports overtop should do just fine. Don’t be the guy that just wears compression pants and has his penis outline out in the open. It can make people uncomfortable. I made the mistake my very first nogi class and one of the guys was BUSTING on me lmao. Instead of a rash guard I usually just use the long sleeved slim fit shirts from h&m. They fit pretty tight, are stretchy, and haven’t given me any problems. Here are links to some of my no gi purchases from amazon. If you don’t want to use amazon because of fitment issues or whatever, Dick’s sporting goods and pretty much any sports store should have compression clothing which you can try on. Hope this helps

I have had skin cancer in the past, so I now try to stay covered up more with UV protective clothing. The arm sleeves have become a favorite because it allows me to wear cute summer tops and still have protection. I think they look kinda cute with a tank top or sundress too, lol. There are quite a few options in uv protective clothing that keeps you cool and covered up.

Queue all non-Americans giggling about our shitty health care. Sucks, dude.

Amazon has some fairly cheap grappling shorts that I can vouch for (https://www.amazon.com/Blank-MMA-Shorts-Black-34/dp/B00AK3UUCU/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1465908912&sr=8-3&keywords=grappling+shorts or https://www.amazon.com/Sanabul-Essential-Workout-Shorts-Silver/dp/B016XS4CGU/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1465908912&sr=8-4&keywords=grappling+shorts or https://www.amazon.com/Soffe-XT-46-Short-Metal-Medium/dp/B0050UPATG/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1465908912&sr=8-5&keywords=grappling+shorts though I will say the last pair is not the best and I've had a pair that ripped). This is also a decent and cheap rash guard: https://www.amazon.com/Sub-Sports-Compression-Layer-Sleeve/dp/B001QTLX6Y/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1465908981&sr=8-3&keywords=sub+sports

In the mean time, you don't have to get fat and out of shape. I know it's a stressful time, but look forward to getting out of it. Don't put yourself in a hole caused by weight gain and personal neglect so that when you finally get your cast off you still feel like shit.

u/Nuclear_Catnip · 2 pointsr/selfharm

In my experience they prevent sweating and such because of the material they are made from. Some actually keep you cooler. They make working over the grill a much better experience. https://www.amazon.com/Elixir-Cooling-Protective-Compression-Available/dp/B018V2L9O4
If you get a chance, check it out.

I just got these knee pads to use with the Bauer knee pads I got last month. I hold the compression knee pads up with a garter which seems to keep the bigger Bauer knee pads in place.

u/sc2sick · 2 pointsr/bjj

Rash guard and shorts that aren't going to fall off. Preferably without pockets.

I use some cheap rashguards most of the time like https://www.amazon.com/SUB-Sports-DUAL-Mens-Compression/dp/B003IN7S92/ or you can go long sleeved. I'm about 60/40 long sleeve at this point. I dislike long sleeved shirts generally.. I don't even notice the long sleeved rash guards other than not getting scratches on my arms from people defending chokes.

https://www.amazon.com/Sanabul-Essential-Cross-Workout-Shorts/dp/B016XS4CM4 some good, inexpensive, shorts are nice to have too. They're worth having.

Basically what I'm getting at here is: put on a t shirt and some basketball shorts and try out shrimping. You may notice your shorts start to sag and that your t-shirt collar starts to annoy you.

These things aren't 100% necessary but there's a reason most practitioners wear it.

If the place you're checking out does primarily gi jiujitsu talk with them and see if they sell gis. Sometimes they're inexpensive through the schools or will come as part of a membership package.

u/Stewbender · 1 pointr/bjj

I just get the cheap generic ones that aren't really marketed specifically for grappling. Like these

I'm definitely not your target demographic because I don't like anything at all on my gear; graphics, logos, etc. But I'm sharing my preferences in comfort and fit.

u/hklaicha · 1 pointr/AsianBeauty

I don't spend enough time outside to know from experience and while Asian PA++++ sunscreens generally provide good UVA protection, there's also the French brand La Roche Posay that has p much the best UVA protection on the market. The consensus seems to be that their sunscreens are amazing but can cause stinging/irritation or feel unpleasant on the face, so I haven't tried any myself. Here's a Facebook post highlighting the ones with the highest PA ratings (PPD is the same as PA, just with numbers instead of plus signs).

Most of the time, yeah. I chilled out a bit starting last summer and occasionally skip body sunscreen if I'll be out for 30 minutes max, and sometimes all sunscreen if I'm in a rush on work days. Glass only blocks UVB rays, so it's actually good that you wear sunscreen for grocery shopping! Most people don't know they're not totally protected from the sun while driving. There are UPF sun sleeves you can buy if you don't want to waste sunscreen on your arms just for short drives.

These are a God send and cheap, I wear a 3x in normal shirts and a 2x in those works great, held up for 6-7 months and that's under a vest.

Oh, I felt myself getting angrier as I read thru this, perhaps as a professional and boss in an allied field If I had overheard this I would have fired her on the spot, and publicly, too. What she said and more importantly, what she did was absolutely positively totally unacceptable under any and all circumstances. It was at best, mean, and at worst, elder abuse. If anything, I think you handled yourself with tact, class and grace..and furthermore, you could have not only kicked it (and her!) up a notch or two, but then taken it to DDL's supervisor, which I would strongly encourage you to do so. Then, I'd like to offer you a job. I pay very well, too.

I think you should give your grandma a big bouquet of flowers next time you see her, give her an even bigger hug and kiss, tell her how much you love her and how beautiful you know she is, and get her a pair of comp socks..I know exactly what you mean...that are at least less grotesque: https://www.amazon.com/Pairs-Compression-Socks-Women-Men/dp/B01N5LOWIK/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1536246154&sr=8-5&keywords=compression+socks

And take her out for a lovely dinner.

It's hard getting old and losing what you had as it indicates at some point there will be nothing left to lose which is the terrifying part. The people charged with understanding and being sensitive to and supportive of that should do so, there is ever and acceptable level of teasing.

u/epipin · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

The good thing about Florida in the summer is that it is often cloudy and rainy. Not that you necessarily want that on your holiday, but it does help bring the heat down a bit and lessen (a bit) the amount of burning.

Get a big hat. Wear it. A lot. And then I would wear long sleeves and trousers if I were you. Look, you're going to feel hot and sweaty anyway. I'd rather be marginally hotter and a bit more protected if I burned as easily as you than to try to wear short sleeves and end up miserable with a burn. If you buy a thinner weave of clothing that is not rated with a UPF, it will still provide at least some protection and not be as hot as a thicker weave. Wear your sunscreen underneath. You could buy sun sleeves like these that you can wear with a t-shirt and remove when you get inside. A rashguard for the beach is another idea. And of course the beach tent idea is great too.

Sorry, I don't have a great sunscreen recommendation. The ones you buy in the UK will be better than we can get in the US.

u/Ghawr · 1 pointr/bjj

Just recently got this McDavid for my bursitis on my knee that made it almost impossible to base on it. Works perfect. If you are on the heavier side I would recommend getting the with the shorter sleeve. The octagonal separation works so much better than a traditional knee pad.
