would this work? You could even cut holes in it to fasion it into something like this if needed.

I think the problem is that most stretchers that are portable are going to most likely require two people to move an immobilized person or animal. The majority of emergency medical equipment that someone can use to transport an injured person or pet generally isn't made to be carried around on your person. :[
