I got this bag, which is actually for a telescope but fits my board and helmet perfectly:

I purchased this when I got my board. I've used this on 30+ flights. It's great! Orion 15161 39x9.5x11 - Inch Padded Telescope Case https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000XMTRE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_ocyHybRBWJ2MH

I actually ordered this thinking it looked perfect. But when it arrived I found it to be waaaay too long.

Ultimately settled on this guy: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000XMTRE/

Just keep it covered up with a clean tarp or better still in a case. Dust is the biggest enemy of your scope in the long run. A little dust will always get in, the goal is to minimize it.

I keep my eyepieces in one of these

You're right about not wiping the mirrors (I'm assuming you've got a Newtonian reflector) if you can at all help it, but if the mirror gets particularly dirty for any reason it can be safely cleaned. Just try not to have to do it very often (hence cover it up).

Thanks!

Went with the larger version of the telescope bag people have been talking about. This one is 43x9x11 and the one people recommend is the 39x9.5x11, but the larger one was available on prime. Also bought some bubble wrap if it's too big or the padding isn't good enough. Planning to carry the battery and check the board. I also considered the rifle case, but the weight (16lbs), inability to carry a helmet, and being asked if I'm carrying firearms seemed like a downside. It does seem to offer much better protection, though.

The premium options seems to be sector9, honuaunlimited, and boardbag, but sadly I doubt any of those could deliver in four days.

I found the hard case here: Celestron Hard Case

Otherwise look into Pelican cases. They're the industry standard for waterproof, shockproof hard cases. Comes with pick and pull foam so you make whatever shape you need to.

I have an 8SE and I have this case: Celestron Hard / Soft shell
though I can see why you'd want something harder for traveling.

I got one of these

I fly with it and it's great. Just make sure I linked you to the right size if you pick one up.

It reminds me of Board Bag

I'm not a huge fan of Boosted board bags that are in the shape of the board (thin around the deck but thick around the wheels).

I occasionally fly with my Boosted board and having a bag that's thinner around the deck but thicker around the wheels feels like wasted space to me. If it was a consistent thickness all the way through, I could pack clothes or other things under the board. For anyone with a similar issue, I'd HIGHLY recommend the Orion 15161. I'm a very light packer and this + a backpack are the only bags I take when I fly.

If you (u/brdbag) were to make a bag like that, I'd buy it in a heartbeat (or even slightly thicker so you could pack more things?)

EDIT: picture of the orion bag with a boosted board inside. Not my picture.
