But if you’ll indulge me, perhaps it can be said like this: Why did the separation happen in the first place? It didn’t! We are source energy here in these physical bodies and we are not something other than all the things that have ever existed in the past, present, or future. This connection is constant and as far as our experience of it is concerned we are either allowing it in the moment or not. There is nothing we can do to actually separate ourselves in reality. It is us, we are it. This is the good news! Abraham will always shy away from answering this question in the way it is asked because they know that it is based on a flawed premise.

If this is something you would like to dig into I suggest looking into A Course in Miracles, and specifically the book The Disappearance of the Universe by Gary Renard . Coming back to the teachings of Abraham after reading this book can be a really joyous experience.

Another way to think about this would be the 3 step process of creation that Abraham refers to, 1. You ask, 2. Source answers, and 3. You receive. The “separation” would fall into the step 1 asking category. If you are into the idea of being alive and having a physical experience then there must be “separation” as you move in time and space from one expanded state to the next further expanded state. Like how your legs “separate” from each other when you take a step or like how your child “separates” from you when you give it birth. But remember this “separation” is but one step of the process. You can go joyously to where this “separated” part of you has expanded to. The extent to which this “separation” feels bad depends on how conscious you are of this process and how long you linger in step one. If you move quickly from step one to step two (which source, aka your own broader perspective, takes care of automatically) and then to step three, then it can turn into a kind of dance that really feels like the reason you want to be alive in the first place. 1 2 3, 1 2 3, it’s like a waltz. Abraham focuses on getting us into step 3. That’s why they don’t talk about the separation, or how we got into this mess in the first place, or the fall, or original sin, or Adam and Eve, or the garden of eden. These are all step one “out of the vortex” topics which, from their point of view have been focused on ad nauseam already by me/you/us. They are here to help facilitate step 3. Getting into the receiving mode! Or vortex! Or having our valve open! They have said it so many ways so beautifully. And we need to keep hearing it because we keep having step one moments because we want to be here and be alive and expand. There is no expansion without step one. So the “why” of the separation in this context would be “for the sheer joy of feeling the universe expanding through us”. 🤙
