Ive read them both, and while the manga does have more content and character development because of the movie the friends made together. I wasnt so interested in that part and wished the author went in a different direction personally.

I personally think the manga and the movie are equally good. But this isnt the opinion of most people. So take it with a grain of salt.

Most likely, the Japanese standard edition is listed with the ridiculous price of $85. This is the Hong Kong version, still priced non-competitively compared to other retailers.


If anyone stumbles across this thread looking for Blu-ray information, please do not waste your money on these marked up imports. There are other reliable retailers that will charge less even with shipping.

EDIT : My guess is they are planning on ripping the official release which is a pretty shitty thing to do, at least in my opinion.

I bought it from play-asia. Came as expected. No scam. It's the Hong Kong release which is the same blu ray region as the US. It works great.

As for DVD, I also bought this version but went with the blu ray because it didn't translate writing which Koe no Katachi has some writing in it. Looks sold out but its that type of copy if you see it on ebay. It's from Malaysia and is all regions

I don't see how either copy could be illegal. Just make sure the region works.

But yeah. It will come out in the US if you're willing to wait. We just don't know how long that will be.
