Since many Pennsylvania (and others from surrounding states) wine enthusiasts are well-versed on the Finger Lakes wines, I thought it appropriate to post about the passing of Sam Argetsinger. Sam was arguably the most recognized grape grower in the FL region. His 16-acre Argetsinger Vineyard, located on the East side of Seneca Lake near the town of Hector, produced the fruit for Ravines winery's acclaimed Argetsinger Dry Riesling. For score hounds, the 2008 Argetsinger was awarded 92 pts from WS and Sam's hard work in the vineyard was responsible for much of that score. Sam's vineyard skills were so recognized that an entire Chapter was devoted to him in the great book "Summer in a Glass", a book about the coming of the Finger Lakes wine region. He will be sorely missed.
While PLCB doesn't carry Ravines' Argetsinger dry Riesling, I'll be pulling one out of the cellar tonight to celebrate a great achievement by a great man. Please have a pour tonight.
That's my recipe and ingredients list except I use Amarena cherries.

But then again, I jumped from the fire engine red maraschino cherries to these, so maybe I missed something.
