Oh my goodness... This is my kind of contest! Even before I ever had kids of my own, reading has always been the number one priority with any children I worked with (I was a nanny).

As soon as I found out I was having a baby, I was all about the books. My baby shower was a book baby shower, asking for books instead of cards so I could start his library.

His birth announcement pictures were all about the books. His nursery is book themed (with a touch of woodland animals). Since day one, we have been reading to him and letting him read to himself. Charlie LOVES BOOKS!

Of course, all of those pictures are from when he was not able to go grab a book by himself. Now he is 16.5 months and will gladly sit and read by himself at any time of day. Even when he's supposed to get in the bath...

As you might expect, his wishlist is full of books I want to read him.

Here is a video of him last week. I was spying on him with his baby cam, and just loved his little reading process. He did this for about twenty minutes, getting books off the shelf, reading them on his chair, then putting them back. :)

I guess what I'm trying to convey is that if we won this contest, the books would be well used and well loved.

As for the other part of the contest- what books would I recommend? That is a very loaded question...

I guess, on the 3 year old end, I would recommend The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore. It was actually adapted from an Oscar winning short film. It's a book about books, and the journey they can take you on throughout you life. The art is captivating, and the story is magnificent.

Moving on to the older child, I would have to recommend My Side of the Mountain. It's a classic book about coming of age and independence. I find this is a good book to gift a 8-9-10 year old reader, as it is one that will really immerse them in an adventure they want to relate to.

Since my final book would also have been "Le Petit Prince" (LOVE the French version too!), I will defer to The Giver. It seems like such a gimme, but it really is a book that every child should read.

I know books are available for free at the library, but, like you said, there is something different about owning your own. I understand if I am precluded from this contest on the grounds that we already have "enough books", but in my world, there are never enough books. Also I really wanted an excuse to share all his cute baby book wall pictures!

Thank you for this fabulous contest!

TL/DR: I'd love to enter my son Charlie in this contest. We love books! :)

Edit: format

Another gift for my two little cousins would be awesome. Here is a link to an item they'd love:

I was able to obtain a gift for them through the ebaygives, but a second gift for them would be awesome. They don't have any grandparents to spoil them as they have all passed away, so anything extra for them would be awesome. The oldest is 13 and the youngest is around 7, and unfortunately he doesn't even have any memories of his grandparents as the last of them passed away while he was just months old.

Thank yall so much for doing what you do, and giving those less fortunate than others an opportunity to enjoy Christmas. The generosity of people in these Christmas subs is awesome!

What an awesome offer! - This would also make a really cool contest, say have the kiddo write a short story (say 3 paragraphs) and submit it as the entry...

One of the very best books I have ever read on writing was this one by Stephen King it was informative and humorous all at the same time.

I really wanted to get my son the kids edition Kindle here The 2yr warranty was the biggest reason I wanted this one vs one of the cheaper ones. Being that he is almost 4 there is a possibility of it getting broken abd us not being able to replace it. My mom pays for a subscription to ABC mouse and it is terrible to navigate on the computer (and hard to for him to use on my phone). This is something that he can use for a long time. He already uses my phone for various free learning games but this offers a whole year of free kids books/apps/movies. He really could benefit from it.

He would also be happy with any of the playmobil rescue vehicles like this, this or this. He has one of the garbage trucks and a few of the people from the blind bags and it's easily his most played with toy.

him and him sleeping for another contest.

Is there a price point to stay under or around?

If it's under $20 I would recommend this terrarium. It's educational and kind of awesome.

If we are just staying under $100 I would recommend zoomer kitty. Fun for kids, and parents. Helps to teach some responsibility in having a pet.

If we are going all out then the sphere bot Would have to be my recomendation. It's fun, has multiple things it can do and will help unite families in their love of star wars themed items!

We have 4 children, and I'd like to nominate my 9 year old daughter for this prize. She is so helpful and compassionate. When she has money, she hardly ever spends it on herself. She will almost always buy one of her siblings something instead. She goes out of her way to help others, even strangers. The one thing she really wants from her wish list is one of the Warrior Cat books listed on it. Thank you for this contest. Here is her wishlist: and here is one of the books: Merry Christmas!

Does he have a tablet of any kind? Would be the best if he doesnt. There are SO many apps that will help him stay occupied. I tend to see alot of mature kids, get bored very easily. When theyre brains arent stimulated. You can download SO many different apps and it wont even feel like learning. Around that age brain stimulation is the absolute best, and with the technology these days, we are lucky to be able to have these tools to offer our children. But if you want him to have something hands on, this is perfect -

u/alethalcombination · 2 pointsr/SantasLittleHelpers

Would he be into something like this? Or do you guys have a place to use something like this? I wanted to get one for my daughter at one time. They look so fun!

I am also a big fan of this guy. Got that for my nephew a couple years ago and he terrorized entertained the cats with it all the time!

u/Sparkle_Claus · 2 pointsr/SantasLittleHelpers

What can you do with coke points? I will tell you! Your local school may be signed up to get points donated to them! (Idk how they get signed up, I am sure there is info on the coke reward site). They get so many cents per points.

That all being said, how do we enter? My local elementary school uses their checks to buy extra supplies like new parachutes for the gym. [Remember the parachutes?](

I'd like to enter my husband for this please it would make his mornings before work so much easier as we dont have a ice scraper so he usually ends up using a old card and tying to drive with only a patch scraped off.

This isn't a stocking stuffer, but the kids version of the Fire, seen here can go a long way.
