I've never regretted it for a second. I have two kids (1 and 4) I wasn't sure if the white dash would be broght/ distracting but it's not at all and I love it so much. Also EVERYONE thinks it's awesome. Plus it cleans very very well.

I use chemical guys CarGuys Super Cleaner - Effective All Purpose Cleaner - Best for Leather Vinyl Carpet Upholstery Plastic Rubber and Much More! - 18 oz Kit

Works like a magic. I just spray on microfiber and whip down a few times a month. KEEP THE WHITE😎

I was in the same boat. Here were my considerations...

  • Fast write-speeds: to capture continuous video write to the disk
  • Large Capacity and inexpensive stick: fewer read/write per sector makes it more reliable/longer lasting
  • Large and expensive SSD)
  • Endurance/commercial type for more read/write cycles and hotter/colder temps
  • Small form factor: not so big/rigid to avoid possibility of breaking while in tight area
  • WiFi capability: to get the data on/off without physical transfer

and what i ended up deciding...

Based on the feedback so far, I'm leaning toward the Sandisk Ultra Fit.

In order of importance, my decision factors...

  • The small form factor will reduce the chance of me hitting it accidentally and possibly breaking the port.

  • It is fairly cheap at $19 for 64GB version. This allows me to store at least 1 day of video at least 2000 miles of driving (over a month of driving) and reduce the number of re-writes.

  • The write-speed is not a factor, but USB 3.0 should be more future proof if Tesla changes the system, or if i re-purpose the drive to another task. If you want the older version with 2.0, it is even less expensive.

  • Endurance doesn't seem to be a popular concern, so ignoring it for now. I am slightly concerned with operating temperature [32°F to 113°F (0°C to 45°C)] and storage temp [14°F to 158°F (-10°C to 70°C)], but we'll see how it goes this winter. Those more further north than me can report in if they have success or failure.

  • I also ignored the WiFi capability because if i need to unplug the device, there is no reason to use it. I'm still curious if SD based cards like the Toshiba Flash Air W-04 would have a different behavior. I bought one for my digital camera, so i'll give it a try in the Tesla too. The cost is significantly higher, but if i can access dash cam videos from my cell phone and before getting home and without unplugging, that would be a big plus. (also need to find the right SD to USB adapter.)

Thanks for helping me think it out.

I tried several controllers, and here’s what I went with.

My son and I really preferred our PS4 Dual Shock controllers with the Model 3, but we didn’t want to commit them to the car because we wanted to keep them for our PS4 Pro.

We also tried the Logitech F310, and they felt too flimsy.

We settled on a set of Xbox knock offs from Amazon called EasySMX

They feel decent, work well with Cuphead and the racing game, and they fit well in the armrest.

I’ve got one from AutoHeatShield for my Model 3 that I’ve been happy with. It was around $55 I think on Amazon. I assume they sell them for the S as well. It folds up instead of rolling, and fits the windshield really well.

These definitely work with my Model 3:

You get two controllers for $10. If you hunt around, you can sometimes find them a dollar or two less.

There are, however, some caveats. First, Beach Buggy Racing doesn't work with these or with any other controllers - they say that they will fix that in an update in the future. Also, they are super cheap plastic controllers and doing diagonals on the pad joystick isn't as easy as one might hope. So up/down/right/left is fine but if you want to go upper-right, I find that it's not as precise as a real joystick.

But they are small, cheap and work well enough.

thanks for everyones help. I ended up trying this off amazon because it was 1 day delivery and I could return it no hassle if it didn't work:

Works Great!!

u/sjsharks323 · 2 pointsr/TeslaLounge

Now that I think about it OP, why not just patch it yourself? Patch kits are super cheap, and it looks like you have the tire off anyway? Tons of Youtube videos on how to do this, and it would only take you probably 15 mins? Worth a shot maybe?

Everyone has their own preference, but I have had great success with this:

Had it since day one (June/2019) with no issues. Review and reformat twice a month on average. No issues.

Looks like there are some that flare a bit (or narrow a bit, depending how you’re looking at it) to get a better fit:

Using a SanDisk High Endurance 128GB card and this adapter.

It’s really the best option, all other card readers are huge and bulky

u/Knulla_Mig_Hardare · 4 pointsr/TeslaLounge

No problem! There’s lots of wireless things nowadays.

Amazon should have them. I have a TapTes (US .com site) charger. It came with 2 USB splitters and is really great.

I would recommend that. Lots of people have it.

By far the best all-weather mats. Amazon link.

u/kort677 · 3 pointsr/TeslaLounge

get the rvparky app,

an extension cord like this could come in handy.

bring a small generator along for your 110 needs, in my opinion running that would be better than running things from the car.

personally I do not care for sleeping in the car and would find rooms in places with l2 chargers.

Aero Cosmetics Wet or Waterless. Whether full wash or not. This is what I use. Works great.

u/andrewlikescoffee · 3 pointsr/TeslaLounge

I bought this $18 Xbox style controller off Amazon, works great and no fussing around with dongles, batteries, etc.

  1. Hand wash with a quality microfiber mitt using Optimum No Rinse Wash.

  2. Dry with quality microfiber towels using a small amount of Opti-Seal as a drying aid. (I cheat and use an absorber shammy instead of microfiber towels, but technically they can cause microabrasions.)

  3. Clean your wheels and shine tires however you want.

I don't recommend a car wash at all, but do not use a car wash that touches the car. I summarized so just ask if you want more details.

Can you feel anything when you move your fingers over it? It may be worth asking r/AutoDetailing. Another option is to use a nanoskin which works like a clay bar.

The same thing happened to me, USB drives aren't meant for writing/rewriting video. You need to get a Samsung PRO Endurance 128GB Micro SDXC Card, it's made for dashcam's and bodycams. I bought mine with a Geekgo adapter so I can watch the sentry videos on my iPhone 😎
Here's a link: Samsung PRO Endurance 128GB Micro

You clean it with a can of Kool-it :

The “fix” will likely involve a software solution to dry off the evaporator after you get out of the car on a trip. Some people will turn off the AC and let the fan blow for the last few miles, but I would rather having AC the entire drive.

u/DiachronicShear · 4 pointsr/TeslaLounge

I have this, which you can use with this stuff or any other ONR product really and keep them with you. Just spray it on, let sit for a few seconds, and use the bug sponge to wipe off. Should come off easy.

u/heller59 · 3 pointsr/TeslaLounge

I can confirm that these work. They're simple - and cheap. You don't need an XBox controller to play Asteroids!

I’m guessing it’s like this . There’s a few on there, just search model 3 air mattress.

I bought this pump:

Combined with this plug kit:

I don't think the Tesla kit is worth it and I've heard the compound it sprays into the tire is ironically ineffective since Tesla tires have acoustic foam in them.

  • All-weather mats. I went with 3D Maxpider Kagu.
  • Unscented baby wipes to keep in center console. For cleaning minor stains.
  • Portable tire inflator.
  • Kept the portable (ICE car) jump starter from my previous car. In case someone else needs a jumpstart.

I’ve heard bad things about the clay mitts. Supposedly they fall apart instantly. Try this guy : Nanoskin (AS-019) AutoScrub Fine Grade Sponge I spray the car heavily with ONR (two cap fulls into a 32 ounce spray bottle, fill the rest with water). Then I brush every section both horizontally an MF vertically with this sponge. If you drop the sponge just dip it in a bucket of water to get everything off. Smooth as glass afterwards. Top it off with some Collinite 845 and your whip will be looking tippy top!!
