It's a bit expensive (for my first one), but I wanted 1080p in front and rear and GPS.

I threw a 128gb card in mine (I prefer highest resolution). With that, I drove from SLC to Disneyland and back. When I checked how far back the video was being saved (it automatically overwrites the oldest video), it was somewhere around Fillmore...on my way TO disneyland. Easily 18+ hours.

It has added a surprising amount of peace of mind for the possible insurance and at-fault purposes. My professional work involves a lot of contracts, policies, etc (so I get where all that comes from). If a picture is worth 1000 words, video is at least double that.

It was insanely easy to install. And it has an app that connects it directly to my phone...so if the video is needed, you can stream\download it straight to your phone to email or file share. I don't have to hand over my SD card (the only copy) to the cop. I haven't purchased the direct-to-battery wiring kit, but it's supposed to start recording when it senses 'shock' to the car (when parked or otherwise not powered).

I'm absolutely going to get the same setup for my wife's SUV.

BUT. It cuts both ways. Say you're going 10 over and someone rear-ends you? (Unlikely, but this from the hip.) Yeah, the police report makes it the rear-ender's fault...but the insurance companies may decide to get ...creative... because you were speeding. Plenty of ways it can go sideways if you're not, almost always, within the letter of the law. But I'm that guy, and used to not speeding too often.

If you need any more convincing, just search "dashcam" on Youtube (or r/Dashcam). There are a lot of videos where people are skipping a LOT of quality time with police, insurance, and courts. Maybe video is worth 10,000 words.

I highly recommend this book. I found the author to be spot-on with his trail ratings and he includes trails that are easy enough for your Acura to handle on street tires. I think Eye Of The Whale trail inside Arches is doable for you, when I have a chance I will look it up in my copy and double check.

I live near the U of U. Product name: SturdX Full HD Dual Ultra High Definition Dash Camera Wide Angle Night Vision G-Sensor Front and Rear . That should link to the Amazon page for it. Just so you know, when I bought it, it was $60. Like I said, I am open to bringing the price down.

I found this book and thought it would be something like "A Vagabond For Beauty", the Everett Ruess chronicles; which is a must-read if you spend a lot of time in the Utah deserts.

Unfortunately Abbey's beautiful descriptions of the Moab area were interrupted with rants about pavement.
