I'm a big fan of these:
https://www.amazon.com/Ariat-Womens-Stanton-Country-Fashion/dp/B00IMPNZ34/ref=sr_1_1?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1536355601&sr=1-1&nodeID=7147440011&psd=1&keywords=Ariat+Women%27s+Stanton

They are super comfy, I've hiked in them, been on my feet all day around town in them. They are waterproof, have a nice non-slip rubber tread, and have a zip and stretchy calf panels. You can ride in them if you want, otherwise they're fashionable and this color pairs well with most pants. They've survived two winters here and don't show any signs of quitting on me so far.

We do not, but you are always welcome to join. We chose the book Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close and we are meeting next week at Suds and Suds by Woodstock Pizza. If you want to join for the next book no problem! There are two grad student members so we feel your pain. We try to keep the obligation to one hour per week, plus reading time.

I grew up in Springfield and have been picking up syringes for as long as I can remember. It was meth in the 1990's now it's some form of opioids. Just be sure to wear gloves or pick up a trash grabber. I've had a few family members strung out at different points and realized it's about worthless to try and convince them to stop. So I just try to minimize the damage they do until they die or decide to quit.

These ones are pretty good: https://www.amazon.com/Vive-Suction-Cup-Reacher-Grabber/dp/B00O47ILVA/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1541268251&sr=8-6&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=trash+grabber&dpPl=1&dpID=31fRpOmpLiL&ref=plSrch

I’m not saying that bike theft is excusable, which it isn’t, but it’s going to remain a problem in Corvallis/OSU because university admin, city council, police, etc. will continue doing nothing about it. The best thing I did when I moved here was buying as thick a u-lock as possible.

The Kryptonite New York Standard lock is what I’ve used my last 4 years on campus. Different thieves have tried to cut it 3 times and have never been able to get through more than the outer case. It’s $100 but is still cheaper than a decent bike, especially a mountain bike (big target for bike thieves).

Really sorry about your bike. I got a ton of parts taken off my MTB a few years back and know how much it stings and how violating it feels.
