Only about 90% certain this is the exact one I have in my 3-compartment (would also like in my pre-rinse machine sink), but a Chicago Faucet pre-rinse sprayer. It seems very water-conservative with a jet nozzle end that tapers to a slower end - not like a shower head. Think of a single wave of spray with the top end stronger than the bottom end. Very useful, IMO. Easy to clean, too.

Hey dude, I did a quick Google - check these out!! I'm big on finding little gear tweaks to improve survivability in my job. For $10 you get 10 of these, bet these could save your hands for a year.

First of all, it's amazing to find a community that knows my struggles. A little background, I am the dishwasher at a massive buffet that seats over a thousand people. Yes, I said "the", because no one else can really handle it, the pansies. I can post some pictures, but I'm on mobile and right now I'm getting tired of typing this. Anyway, that little guy in my picture is a dish-rag-thingy I got from amazon, like $5 for 3. It's got holes so that food doesn't get caught, and it doesn't turn into a dirty sopping mess like regular dish rags. I've had three for several months and put them through serious dish hell, and they're like new every night. Just send them through on one last rack when you're done, ayyy you don't have to blow through steel scrubbies every week. Really, they scrub just under the level of steel scrubbies, so keep those around for the tough stuff, and you'll start to see that those boxes of scrubbies pile up, and you don't waste all that precious time picking out food from them. They also don't cut your hands, which seems like a self explanatory benefit. They're a serious contribution to my dish game, and I highly, highly, suggest them.

Here's my advice on this one:

  • Use a heavy ankle length rubber apron (something like this). The vinyl ones get attacked by the oils in the food and will harden and crack after about two weeks. The long apron is important, if you get a short one the water will drip off of the apron, wick down your pants legs and pool in your boots. Stitched neck straps are more comfortable, but the stitching fails. Grommeted ones with a tied on neckstrap last much longer, but the narrow strap will saw into your neck. See below on how to mitigate this.
  • Wear a tall rubber boot, tuck your pants in said boot. I had a pair of SFC Guardian IVs during my time in the pit. Get really thick work socks- These boots don't breathe and your feet will sweat. Get steel toed boots, a stack of sheetpans will put you in a cast.
  • Get a collared polo-shirt made of an athletic type material. Walmart's got them in a kind of spandex/under-armor like fabric. Wear it as an undershirt for your work uniform. Wear the strap of the apron under the collar so it doesn't chew up your neck.
  • If you want gloves get a pair of shoulder-length gloves. Make sure they have an elastic lined opening and are one piece. The ones that have a big funnel like arm will fall off, and the ones that look like Walmart dish gloves with a sleeve stitched to them leak. Look for something like this. Get the thick ones that will handle heat, some fucker is going to pull a pan right off the line and leave it at your sink with the bottom of it still at 300F.
  • Powder your boots when you get home.
  • Rinse the inside of the gloves in the sink sanitizer and store vertically, stand them up on big sticks (Broomhandle etc) Don't store them at the store unless you want them filled with roaches.

Above was standard wargear for a 10-hour shift on the potsink at the student's mess for a large university. Good luck out there.

Dishwasher Pete has an amusing book where he tries to wash dishes in all fifty states. He has some great stories along the way.

Stand in puddles of boiling hot water all day, they're slip proof, steel toed, and most importantly, they're only 20 bucks. I've used them for about 2 months now and they're still going strong. none of my other boots have lasted past 1 month

I bought this one from Amazon because the ones we got at work are too cheap and not very durable. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079YSTNVX?psc=1

Honestly gloves are only good if you don't use those latex gloves.

  1. They make plates turn into butter
  2. Water will get into them as they're only to your wrists

You gotta ask for the expensive ones to your elbows which are made of Nitrile. A shitty but workable example.

Try these. It'll work for a few months.

https://www.amazon.com/Burts-Bees-Natural-Butter-Repair/dp/B002DPUXZC i use this like 3-4 times a day, its worth the money. my hands arent that flakey but i have a spot on my index finger that gets really gross and itchy so i use antibacterial ointment on it sometimes and it settles down. you could get some straight up natural shea butter and use it too. really thick and kinda greasy but it soaks in after a bit.
