I made a decent side income when I was in grad school flipping video games and gaming accessories. I knew a few pawn shops close to my house that had flat rates on DS/3DS/retro games, and steeply discounted rates on accessories/non-current-gen systems. A few examples:
$10 for a new, sealed GameCube controller from 2002-ish (before they released new GC controllers with Smash for Wii U); sold for over $100 on eBay
$7 for a Skyward Sword wiimote; sold for $80.
$18 total for two complete copies of Pokemon: Heart Gold and one complete copy of Pokemon: Soul Silver (sold each for $55).
$8 total for complete copies of Mario Party 4, 5, 6, and 7; sold each for $25-40.
The best i can do is amazon link, they have it for 29,99 right now

For any other links i would need to use my time to google it so you might as well do it yourself
I bought one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-Technology-NA16029-Multimedia-Controller/dp/B003VWU2WA
It was only bought partially for things like salvage crates but, damn is it useful for them. I bound the key to open the salvage crates to mousewheel up which is also what triggers when you rotate the knob. I just absent-mindedly rotate it while watching TV and, slowly make progress.
The fact that a SSD costs $50 instead of $80 doesn't invalidate my point, my point is that a good DVD-ROM costs a LOT LESS than a SSD.
I'm not entirely sure why you think $46 is the cost of a DVD-RW drive, Since most good DVD-RW drives are available for half of that price.

Just to chip in on this, the warcraft movie is on sale for $7 on Amazon, and as far as i know the promotion of getting a free battlechest and other blizz game goodies is still going on. So depending on shipping costs and if you think its worth the few bucks you'd be paying more you could consider that too.

$46 for 120GB
DVD rom drives aren't price by the gigabyte either, that's a stupid thing to say. Dunno where you're paying $2/gigabyte, but you clearly don't know WTF you're talking about.
I can't get to battle net right now, but on Amazon it is in the description that it comes with a 110 boost.
If you want to pull info off your old hard drive you could use a device like this www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00MYU0E0K/ref=sxbs_sxwds-stppvp_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1527504182&sr=2&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=2056238293673378570&pd_rd_wg=9VWFP&pf_rd_r=B7R4Q4FPDRJA7QJM7F7N&pf_rd_s=mobile-sx-bottom-slot&pf_rd_t=9701&pd_rd_i=B00MYU0E0K&pd_rd_w=KJ9Zf&pf_rd_i=hdd+reader&pd_rd_r=ead5ea35-1570-489e-959a-4349dcae8d94&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65
