If it was still running below android 6.0 it is likely not encrypted.
It should have an EMMC chip mounted to the logic board, probably a 11.5mm x 13mm
You will need to remove the chip carefully and clean it up then load it in a reader.

You will need software that can see ext partitions (linux) so it won't just show up in windows.
