I have tried using multiple inputs on both the receiver (Game, Video 1, Video 2, etc) and the LG tv (HDMI 1,2 (arc),3, and 4) and the problem still remains. I have tried using the specific input (video 2) that I use for the my Apple TV 4k for the Xbox.

I usually use 7.1 uncompressed audio output on the Xbox and Dolby surround sound field setting on my Sony receiver. I tried different audio outputs (5.1 uncompressed, dolby, dts, and atmos bitstream) on the Xbox and different sound field setting on the receiver ( 2 CH/Multi:Direct, 2 Channel Stereo, Front surround, Neural:X. None of the changes to either the receiver sound field settings or the Xbox audio outputs settings made any difference.

On my Apple TV, I use the Auto setting (Apple TV automatically uses the best audio format, including Dolby Atmos when available) and have no problems with watching/listening to content formatted in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

Is it worth investing in a new HDMI cable even though Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos both work simultaneously on my Apple TV 4k with the Amazon Basics HDMI cable? Any recommendations for HDMI cables that are guaranteed to work with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos? Also why would the Amazon Basics HDMI cable work for Apple tv and not the Xbox?

I'll link the Amazon Basics Cable below if you want to take a look at its specifications.

I was in a similar situation and ended up getting a pair of KEF Q150's with a Yamaha RX-V385 receiver. The Yamaha isn't on sale anymore but the KEF's are still at $398 from $650.

When I bargained with 2001 Audio Video, they offered me the KEF's for $350 (from the sale price of $398) and the Yamaha 385 for $280 (from the sale price of $299). And the KEF's come with a free pair of bluetooth headphones.

Visions will give you a good discount as well, but they'll try and push their house brand Soundstage first.

You'll get a better deal bargaining at one of those places versus buying from Amazon.

I just have the 2.0 setup right now but I'm happy with the KEF's and the receiver leaves lots of room to upgrade in the future.

And I got these wires to connect, and then these HDMI to connect the receiver with everything else

I was having the same issue. This HMDI cable solved my issue.

Sorry for not replying earlier. I saw your message almost right away and quickly looked something up to be sure.
I forgot to hit save when I had my message ready. So here it is!

> will three monitors be enough for me and him to both use one and also keep an eye on Elgato/Audacity/any other program we decide to use?

Right! This was actually something I kept thinking a lot about. I was trying to imagine how you would set this up.

So my idea was to get two fairly large monitors for the 'gaming' displays. You would probably position them a bit further away for the 'couch gaming' experience? Then one smaller one that you would put on either side for one of you to look at. This would be a bit closer so you easily glance at it.
The main focus should be on you playing the game, not looking at how it looks? I hope you can follow this?
Of course before you start recording everything, you can climb over your other beloved one to check for yourself if everything looks okay.
^(Trust issues and everything aside..)

Also.. in case the other significant one does miss out on something going wrong while playing. You can have some fun fights that hopefully can be solved with cookies?!

Anyway, you technically can position this small monitor anywhere you want, but I think it would be best to have it on the side. You don't want to look at it all the time, you should focus on having fun!

> How would I integrate a TV into this mix if he chose not to use a monitor to play on?

As in using the TV to play on instead of a monitor? Well the Elgato HD60 Pro requires HDMI, so as long as the TV got HDMI, it's really simple. You just plug in the PS4 into the Elgato and then go from the Elgato back to the TV with the HDMI cable.

The video card supports up to 4 monitors. However, I am not entirely sure how it handles the PS4s, since they completely bypass the video card. Anyway, you can for sure hook up 1 more monitor to the video card, but likely 3.

Just one big thing to make note of, the cables! The video card got 3 HDMI, 1 DisplayPort & 1 DVI connector. Which means that if you get more monitors/TVs. Make sure that they physically can fit into the video card or Elgato.
Almost everything got HDMI these days, so you should be fine on that front. Perhaps the only real thing to look for are the length of the HDMI cables. Especially if you use the 'couch setup'. You may need to buy some longer ones. Luckily those are not that expensive anymore.

  • 3 x 10ft HDMI cable for $13
  • 1 x 15ft HDMI cable for $7
  • 1 x 25ft HDMI cable for $8.50

So that's not too bad. Also, I can tell you.. 6 ft may look like an okay distance, but even for just normal desk use, you quickly go through that by making corners. 10ft is a lot more comfortable but you may need 15 or 25ft. Depending on the exact setup on where the PC, PS4 and all the monitors will be positioned. The PS4s can be fairly close to the PC and then you don't need a long cable.

I have no idea, I know they are 2.0 just not sure if it's a or b. They're AmazonBasics I got maybe...3 or 4 months ago? I think they're a though...I thought HDMI 2.0b was for audio enhancement for things like Dolby Atmos? Does 'b' enable the 60hz ? This is the one here my guess is it is 2.0a :/
