The best thing you can do is go though this subreddit and filter to show 'newest'. Read and absorb.

Energy: pace yourself. Disco naps are your friend. Do not rush over to the Festival at noon. This is a good time to enjoy your camp area, take a shower and get ready. We typically didn't hit the Festival until 4ish. Be in shape to walk 10 miles over 4 days. That is what my wife's Ped said and she didn't arrive until Friday afternoon.

Where to crash: I'll chime in also on the Easy Tents option. Next year, we are going with an ET "comfort" upgrade. Rather Pricey, but it is in an even more exclusive and non crowded area (tents sleep 4 and are raised on platforms). http://www.tomorrowworld.com/dreamville/dream-lodges

There were some crowding issues in ET, especially at the lone food stand and the showers (the bathrooms were not homestyle but 4 steps above porta potty quality). Take some easy stuff to make a breakfast (tortillas, egg whites in a carton and some precooked sausage make a great breakfast taco) for about 20 people and you will have 20 friends for life :)

If you are going to stay in Dreamville, you should drive from Chatt Wed night and crash somewhere on the south side of Atlanta. Get in line as early as possible (Think they opened for Dreamville campers @ 10a). If you don't get on the grounds by 2PM, expect a 4-8 hour wait to be assigned your camping area. Yes, it was THAT BAD this year and will not improve unless TW does pre assigned and chalked off spaces.

Performers: yeah catch some of the superstars. But the real fun and vibe (and safety from pickpockets) are at the smaller stages. You can actually talk to people!

Security: TW is now an official thief magnet. We had no issues with theft in ET and we never really used the lock. We were fortunate to be in an area where several security were stationed, and near part of the regular walk route from staff.

Solutions: rent a locker and keep your electronics and most of your 'party favors'. You can rent one either outside the festival or inside (but you won't have access to it except from noon-close each night.) Do NOT use a back pack or one of those flimsy droopy packs. They get cut by the Gypsies, tramps and thieves that prey on the party crowd. Get a bandolier, or a sling pack that rests on your lower front pocket area, or just make sure you don't bring anything you don't want to lose. Many phones are lost so you may want to use a lanyard http://www.amazon.com/Amzer-Detachable-Cell-Phone-Lanyard/dp/B002Z7ELJM

I got one of these and it also works well for my legal concealed weapon (obviously no weapons are allowed at TW!) I had no issues with anyone trying to grab my bag, but I did give a few nasty glares at guys who were 'brushing' my empty back pocket.

A bandolier works well and you can put LED lights on it to make a 'style statement'

Disclaimer: I do not work for Amazon, I just shop there.

Customer Service: Everyone on the TW staff has probably worked 30 hours that week before the gates open. A friend "bar tended" from Wed night to Sunday night, averaging 14 hour days. They did have a camp and made $25 an hour, but by Sunday most of them were zombie level exhausted. Most of them are local scene kids. Do not expect shiny happy faces if you have some issues. Just try to be patient and persistent. Someone will eventually deal with your situation.

Wristband: they have a cool wristband that looks like a leather strap wrist watch, only with the TW logo where the face goes. Do not take a shower with it on, as it sometimes won't work in some places. Take it off only for your showers or immersion in water and NEVER LOSE IT or give it to someone else.

About party enhancers: Don't do drugs, m'k? 'Cause drugs are bad. But if you insist on making your experience as fun as you can take this advice from someone 'old and sick' on how to make it through this situation. Rule 1: never buy or take anything from someone you don't know. The reasons are pretty obvious. Bring your own, and stash it well. Try to avoid bulk products and work on concentrates. Dog's can't smell 'em and neither can security. When it comes to festivals with strict security, everyone is much happier with vapes than with blunts. Bring a little more of your favorites than you can do to share with neighbors. Once a bond of trust is established, then you are free to sample other's bounty. Remember, enhancements are a sacrament and intended to create community. Be discreet, don't spunion out, and maintain awareness of your surroundings. Oh, and avoid alcohol. Seriously, stick to other things and you will be amazed at how many extra hours of partying you can save. If you have to drink, wait until dark. Take it from a man who runs a rave club that sells alcohol; you are better off with other stuff, given the outdoor setting.

Other: totems and flags. Make a totem. Bring an expandable or break down style flag pole and bring the flag of choice (this year I brought a United States of Peace flag and made a fall theme totem of PVC and LED). Make kandi, buy some cheap beads, and randomly gift people. Never charge for any transaction and never pay for a gift. Avoid crowds of pretty people. I'm sure you've seen enough of that 'high class' entitlement crowd at Ultra.
