You'll want to go ahead and order the ARCTIC Accelero Twin Turbo III Graphics Card Cooler with Backside Cooler. The blower GPU's run much hotter than other models and with this aftermarket fan it will run much cooler.

'During load' - so it's not the case fans (which I'm assuming you're running off the fan controller at the 7V setting anyway)

> Gainward gtx580 i7 2600 stock cooler

This thing? Yeah the stock 580 cooler is definitely the problem. You can verify this using MSI Afterburner and just setting various manual speeds and listening to it.

You can try a few approaches:

  • use MSI afterburner (or similar software) to control the fan speed curve, maybe the default is too aggressive

  • add a bottom intake fan to the case, will feed air to the GPU

  • replace the stock cooler with something like a Twin Turbo iii.

1 and 2 will probably show mild improvements at best; you're basically forced to do #3 with a stock 580.

Had no idea you could get aftermarket coolers for the cards, this looks interesting

Still, I have some extra money if WC would be better/quieter.

How was the installation process? Currently have a Gigabyte 7950 and am Interested in the Accelero. Any tricks or tips?
This Is What I am looking into

You can get a cheap heatsink like this one, attach some extra fans you have lying around and it will work. Will also give you lower temps than before https://www.amazon.com/ARCTIC-Accelero-S3-Graphics-Compatible/dp/B00RVAEI1E/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1524727154&sr=8-12&keywords=graphics+card+heatsink

They also come with fans for a bit more https://www.amazon.com/ARCTIC-Accelero-Graphics-Efficient-DCACO-V820001-GBA01/dp/B00IEO8H22/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1524727154&sr=8-2&keywords=graphics+card+heatsink

Installation is pretty straightforward and simple too. I personally tied that shit with zipties until it stopped rattling and worked like a charm.

What you are looking for is the amount of heatpipes. 4 and 5 is good. 3 and below is on the low side and not recommended and will cause overheating.

Remove the card and use some dust off to get all the dust and crap out of the fans. Also spray the rest of your case down too. If you don't see a more normal temperature then get an after market heat sink. I got this and my avg temp is 35 C (down from 70+).

Quick question about graphic cards and aftermarket air coolers.

So I bought my PC used, and it came with a GTX 570 HD. Now one of the fans crapped out on the cooler for it, so I'm thinking about replacing the whole fan set up for it. Specifically, I'm looking at the arctic twin turbo III (Link right here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IEO8H22/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER)

According to the product description, it is compatible with a Nvidia GTX 570. It does not state if it is compatible with a 570 HD. From a preliminary google search, apparently the difference between the two is that the 570 HD comes with an extra DisplayPort, but I do not know if the layout of the chip is changed.

So my question ends up being is that cooler compatible with my card? Thanks for reading!

You can, in theory, look into if one of Arctic's aftermarket GPU coolers can be jerry-rigged to fit on a 5700xt. For ~$50 you can drastically improve those thermals.

The cheap solution would be just pull off the fans and jury rig a replacement from 2 regular case fans.

There are also mostly universal replacement coolers that'd most likely fit such as this https://www.amazon.de/ARCTIC-Accelero-Turbo-Grafikkartenk%C3%BChler-Spannungswandlerk%C3%BChlung/dp/B00IEO8H22/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1495992895&sr=8-16&keywords=arctic+accelero

You'll want something like the Arctic Accelero although it is slightly over budget

u/kevin24lg · 1 pointr/buildapc

Well, if you're not afraid of getting your hands dirty this is an option: http://www.amazon.com/ARCTIC-Accelero-Graphics-Efficient-DCACO-V820001-GBA01/dp/B00IEO8H22/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1404315963&sr=8-1-fkmr1&keywords=ZALMAN+VF3000F+gtx+470

Just need to unscrew the fan shroud/heatsink from your card, then attach all the bits in the link above with some fresh thermal grease.

Edit: Apparently there are a few different aftermarket ones, like here's a video of a installation on a 480, but this cooler also supports the 470 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IabXKKjUyqk

I outline another way to cool the vrms by cutting the stock vrm cooling plate in the video so you could cut down on cost that way. I just wanted to see if they made a big difference.

Me and my buddy did the exact same thing, and like OP said the cooler is massive but it's also silent extremely effective and cheap. https://www.amazon.com/ARCTIC-Accelero-Graphics-Efficient-DCACO-V820001-GBA01/dp/B00IEO8H22/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1469134312&sr=8-1&keywords=accelero+twin+turbo+III We both have around the same results but we both used the included molex to hook it up straight to the power supply instead of through the board, still completely silent running at full speed and idle temps are around 30c, max under load is around 55c and that's with a slight overclock of 1300 with power limit at 25%.

u/CuseKaze · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

If you are ok with the performance you could just change the cooler. This is just the first one I saw. Rx580 will need to use lower settings to hit 144fps for many games (as I'm sure you know).

This is just the first cooler I saw. I'm pretty sure there are coolers like this cheaper ($20-30)
