Following is my configuration built 2 years back.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor

Right now playing SOMA.

Well This is the thing. I ORDERED an "Asus Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 DirectCU II OC 2GB GDDR5 Graphics Card" From Amazon warehouse. But when it arrived, the box was for the right card, but inside was a ZOTAC GeForce GTX 760 which whilst similar doesn't have as good a cooling system, and is basically from a less respected manufacturer. (The card is the same, but the casing it comes in is different. They're made by different companies, so someone either by mistake or on purpose switched them at amazon or someone intentionally sold amazon a different card under a more expensive name)

So now I have to send it back and get my new one. Sigh.....

I would like to get this GPU

MSI Nvidia GTX 760 2GB DDR5 TF Fan PCI-E VS Asus Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 DirectCU II OC 2GB GDDR5. Which one should I get? Both are £169. I'll be playing BF4, Watchdogs and games like them

What is the difference, if any, between these? I think one thing would be the particular fan/cooling system used, but do any of these stand out as "the best one"? Or is this a case of same shit, different pile?

I've noticed prices going up. I've been eyeing this gtx760 and it has gone from 170 up to 200.

I would but i think my psu only has one 6 pin connector for my graphics card. How hard is it to buy a new psu and rewire it all? Also i was thinking of getting this graphics card

The 270 you picked out has a better aftermarket cooler than the 270x listed. I would personally get the 270 with your budget even though at stock the 270x has slightly higher performance. I would start with a GPU upgrade. You could go for a GTX 770 which is a tremendous upgrade to your 7700.

At £179.00, that will leave you some room to see if your CPU is bottle necking.

Still unsure about cooling. I was thinking something simple like this but i've been suggested a liquid cooler because i plan on OC'ing.

The gpu (graphics card) is a compact one. The one you chose has a smaller pcb (the silicon board) than most other graphics cards. This card was probably meant for smaller motherboards in smaller cases (micro atx or mini itx, which are form factors, e.g your mobo is an atx). Because of this the fans of the asus 760 are smaller and will probably have to spin faster to cool the gpu, so I am assuming it will generate more noise.

I am planning on using an i5 4670k and a GTX 760 for my upcoming build. My two questions are:

1. Which mobo would be a good idea for SLI in the future? I've set the budget for the mobo to be at 150$, I am willing to go over if convinced though.
   2.Which version of the 760 should I get? So far this looks like the best choice. Thanks in advance.

I was thinking maybe this Asus card. I like Asus's reliability.

Well i have 2x 670OC's in SLI and i still dip into the 30's in some of the asteroid fields, with everything on maximum settings and 1080P. Guy that i play alongside has a 780ti and mostly he gets above 100FPS but in asteroid fields he too dips into the 30's sometimes, i think asteroid fields are just a little unoptimized at present so dotn expect any graphics card to eat up the dense ones with nebula's or dust clouds in them.

If you can stretch to £250 then i would say probably your best bet would be something like the GTX 960 But if your fonds can only stretch to about £250 then something like 760 a good buy in my opinion.

With regards to relationship advice, i have quite a lot of experience in that department, and i would say that if he loves you for who you are, then he will have no problem with you following a hobby that you enjoy doing as long as you make some time for him in your life as well as the stars :)

Well to start, i have a system with a 3570K, and I didnt realize how cool the processor actually is when I went with liquid.

I wish I had purchased something like this instead.

After buying the card, see your FPS and if you need more, then do the Overclock of the CPU. If not, then just stick with it.

EDIT: your mobo will not allow for a CPU overclock, so just go with the new GPU that I suggested.

The GTX 760 looks good. It is last-gen, but can max out most modern games at 10/80p.

I was noting down prices on a few cards last night that I was interested in and noticed that this had gone down compared to what was posted last night (£143)

I also noticed a few cards such as the EVGA 760 2GB went up by £5.40, the XFX R9 280x 3GB also sneakily went up by £5.41 as well and the ASUS GTX 760 went up by a mere £0.09.

As suggested previously, check out your power supply. The GTX 760 requirements are a 500W power supply or one with 30A on the +12V rail. So a decent 430W PSU like the Corsair CX430 has 32 amps on the +12V rail, so that would be fine.

Please post your existing build. Compatibility will be an issue, and it depends on what you already have.

Yes it is possible for an AMD APU to work together with a separate AMD graphics card in order to improve graphics. Unfortunately the card that she links is not an AMD card and this will not work.

If you are mainly concerned with graphical performance for games, then I would recommend sticking to whatever CPU you already have. Just get a dedicated GPU, which will vastly outperform any of AMD's CPU+GPU combinations. I would suggest a GTX 760, although you could get a GTX 660 if you don't want to spend over $200.

You always need thermal paste, but if you are a using a stock heatsink it comes with paste and you don't need to buy it separately. Graphics cards have permanently mounted heatsinks and you don't need to worry about that.

I would suggest using a site like Tom's hardware to compare GPUs. Pick a game that you play and see what cards offer an acceptable level of performance.

As for your video card dilemma, just a geforce 760. At the moment, this is probably the best deal on amazon, with the $10 rebate.

The EVGA superclocked is good too, but it looks like it went up $10 recently, making the asus probably the better deal.

An EVGA GTX 760 is very close to £200. You can grab an Asus one for £185~ which is also great.

The 270X is pretty alright too, although it isn't as good as the 760 unless it's higher than 1080p.

I would suggest the 760, Asus or EVGA.

I would suggets switching the PSU to the XFX 550w.

It'll provide more than enough power to cover the build even with overclocking. You wont be able to add a second GPU though but the motherboard itself doesnt support SLI either so its not really a loss.

As for GPU the Asus 760 can eb found cheaper at amazon althought its not showing on PcPartPicker.
The next option up from that is this Sapphire Vapor X R9 280X is £227 from aria. Its slightly more, but offers better performance wile staying close to the initial budget.

This went down by £5 today. Similar price to the highest rated graphics card on Amazon - Asus Nvidia GeForce GTX 760, but runs at 1150Mhz instead of the Asus' 1072Mhz
