These basic hooks are great for storing your bike in your garage or basement. Simply screw one of them into a wall stud or ceiling joist and hang your bike by the front or rear wheel.sold as pair
This is just an update to this thread, where a lot of us were looking for a way to store a bike in a small apartment.
I bought these for $6.25 from Amazon.
Used a stud finder to locate the joists, and drilled pilot holes into them. Screwed the hooks into place directly into the joists, made sure there was enough clearance to easily hang the bike, then locked the hooks in place with gorilla glue. Spackle, paint, and we're in business.
It turned out to be a minor pain in the ass because I had to drill twice to find each joist, and my first attempt left too much space between the bike and the wall (lots 'o ceiling holes to repair). The joists turned out to be metal instead of wood, and thus required another trip to the hardware store to get the proper tools to deal with metal joists. Overall took something like 2 hours?
e: here's a pic of the hook. the lumpiness around the hook is actually dried gorilla glue, which took longer than expected to harden and ended up getting real drippy out of the ceiling hole. I painted a bit of the hook as well so it blends in with the ceiling.
Felt the same way, but it proved a little too challenging 12 feet up on our tiny patio :P They're on a bike hook tho so the nest is probably about two inches in diameter.
