They aren't $400, the glossy finish is cheaper and I suggest going with a regular finish but these prices should make you happier! :)

Honestly, for what they are Beats Solo3 are a good buy. You get a pair of on ear bluetooth headphones that have an advertised 40 hours of battery life. That's just ridiculous. Currently $220 on Amazon.
Being you ruled out in ear or over ear, on ear is really only the way to go.
