Used Dell Optiplex 390 @$186.76 + 1080p monitor @$79 + GTX 1050Ti @$154.95

Total = $420.71 or $377.65 for a GTX 1050.

  • i5-2400 3.1GHz
  • 8GB RAM
  • 320GB HDD
  • GTX 1050 Ti
  • Wi-Fi
  • 1080p monitor
  • Optical drive
  • Comes with Windows

I know they're used parts and the PSU might not be the best but OP did ask for something unreasonable so I guess it doesn't matter. Get the 1050 and OP will have room for some basic mouse and keyboard.

Edit: and you've confused me with dollars. It's in GBP you muffin. Though my point still stands (~£270).

Doesn't have to be super overkill. I picked this one up: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019EFMK1I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it works-looks great! Although I regret getting the 21.5" version and not a 24 or 27.

In terms of parts:
The cpu is just a good all rounder. A true 4 physical cores, which helps with gaming and just general use.
You can also overclock this cpu in the future if you wish to get an extra performance boost, although not necessary since it reaches a respectable 3.4ghz on boost.
The gpu is an amazing card for the price, will allow for 60fps medium/high settings.

In terms of storage, I added a simple 120gb ssd for fast boot to os, and faster general tasks. For bulk storage I threw in a standard 1tb hard drive.

I went with a simple looking case, since you expressed your disgust for "gamer crap" (Totally understandable)

I also included an additional 92mm exhaust fan, to aid with airflow.

In terms of monitor recommendations, I would recommend the BenQ - GW2270.
It's just a standard 1080p monitor, 60hz, 5ms, decent colour gambit; however, it goes for only $89. It's quite reliable, and has amazing reviews as it's also from a reputable brand.

Hi guys, so I currently have an s2416dg, 1440p, 144Hz, G-Sync from Dell. I want a second monitor not for gaming (since I already have my main one). It's gonna be mainly for word, visio, videos, discord, etc ...

I just bought this monitor

It's still out of stock so if I want to cancel my order, I can do it now. It seems that review were ok, but I want to be sure I did buy a bad product. Is this a good monitor ? One of my roomates used to have a BenQ and was happy with it. But I don't know much about this brand (shame on me).

Do you have other options (preferably under 150$CAD, and under 24 inch since I don't have much place left on my desk) ?

EDIT : Better link
EDIT 2 : A word

I think you'd be much happier withthis monitor
(same price)

If it were me, I would also choose between a better SSD or a larger HDD at this price range. I just don't like the idea of a cheap SSD.

what are the models of the two spare 21 inch monitors? Some brands have custom VESA backplates that would screw on to the screw holes where the legs would mount.
Otherwise, these 21.5 inch BenQ monitors are $90 each on Amazon and are VESA mountable.

If you go the new monitors route, and if your GPU allows and your spare monitors have legs that allow you to change orientation, they could serve as vertical monitors off to the side? The vertical monitor would be your email, messaging, long document editing screen then.

I got it for 300 so I probably wants like 150 for it, but with that price range you can get something like this

or this or this

It's a BenQ 1080p monitor from 2018.

u/skp_005 · 1 pointr/techsupport

Yes, that would work.

I'd go for one with a bit larger size and a higher resolution though, at least something like [this].

u/PicklesAreDope · 1 pointr/Monitors

I do this. Assuming you have speakers, even the cheapest 2.0 logitech speakers will be better thank your monitor speakers, get an affordable tn monitor for ~$150 (that's the low price in Canada) and then buy a cleap mixer and tie in the audio of your pc and console both in so you can have your pc and ps4 audio going in, and coming out of your speakers and headphones if you wish. Bonus is it will be far easier to change the volume and balance of each.

I can link you suggestions if you want! Also, for gaming, any monitor would have better response time than a tv. Also you'll have to go into "game mode" and even sometimes that doesn't make the lag useable

Or you can Buy something like 2 of these then put a chromecast on one, but if you have a laptop or a pc, 2 of those would be more than cheap enough to get two and dual monitor!

something like this would be more than enough for mixing the audio lines, but you can go and extra 10-20 bucks and get an actual audio mixer or get a beringer if you can get it for a similar cost

Yes, this is 2017. Anything sub 1080p is subpar.

If anyone is still here, do you think that this monitor is worth the $50 over this one one amazon? I'm not too picky about the extra inches but I'm not sure if the freesync and the -1 ms is worth it
