Why buy a Keurig just to awkwardly fill and clean a tiny pod for single cup coffee? My mom does the same thing. Getting the grounds out of the pod takes forever. Why not spend much less on a single cup coffee machine with a permanent filter? It's easier to clean and you can make the coffee stronger. I have this one and love it.

This is my Black and Decker Cup At A Time coffee maker that I bought in January 1994. Model is DCM6.

This coffee maker saw daily use from 1994-2005, 3-4x weekly since 2005. It still brews a great cup of coffee every time and has held up very well for almost 25 years old.

The B&D one cup model is now called Brew 'n Go, and it is model number DCM18. By all appearances and by progression of the model number series, it is the exact same maker... albeit it is only made in black now, and it comes with either a beige/black or stainless/black travel mug. Amazon link

Those k cups make way too much unnecessary waste. So much less garbage produced with a regular drip coffee machine. If you want a one cup solution these are awesome.

I'm going to assume you're living in a dorm. Dorm living can be a real beast, especially if you're on a floor where you share a bathroom. Things that can make it much more comfortable:

I'd just go with the single serve r-usable coffee maker, anything like this:

Keeps it simple.
We used one like that for years till me made the switch to a press.

Yes, stop buying coffee! You'd be surprised how much you spend on coffee. Honestly, my boyfriend has one of these and swears by it!: http://www.amazon.com/Black-Decker-DCM18S-Personal-Coffeemaker/dp/B00005MF9C/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1395062224&sr=8-3&keywords=black+and+decker+single+serve+coffee+maker

I work at a call center for the Army online training portal. Doing IT support and such. I had a guy call me to tell he finished a test.

Dude: "Hey, I just wanted to tell you I finished the module 2 test!"

Me: "That's great sir, now you can go and do module 3."

D: "Ok, great! Thanks so much!"

M: "Yeah it's not problem at all. Have a...day."

That one had me scratching my head. I guess he just a wanted to party with someone about finishing the test? Seems like a waste of 5 minutes sitting in a call queue if you ask me.

And, I'm easy.

Super quick search New Coffee Maker

Single cup with a free travel mug

These leave you money left over to buy some nice coffee by the pound and you have coffee everyday for a month. You could also go to Goodwill or Salvation Army and get a used one for only a few bucks.

Do what you want with your cash, but you are throwing money away by not being more frugal with it and you are making excuses on top of it.

r/Frugal is a good place to start not wasting money.

Have you looked into one cup makers? The Brew n' Go is a more price efficient alternative to the K-cup. This model seems to exclude a hot plate on the bottom, making it follow dorm rules. You can use disposable cone filters so clean-up won't be too difficult.

I actually want this for my husband

I don't dink coffee, he does. But not so often that it's made its way up our priority list. (He will drink it if it's there though!) It's been a running joke for about 4 years now that I would totally buy a coffee maker just for the smell. I LOVE the smell of coffee!

I suppose my number shall be 73 :D

For a second place maybe?

I got a Keurig for Christmas. It was cool; no doubt. But I'd had one of these for years. It uses regular grounds; doesn't take long to make a cup. The K-cups were so expensive that I ended up donating the Keurig to the office.

I have this and it makes a great cup of coffee. Once you know how many scoops you need it will always be the same.

I also have this and it makes great coffee. You can really dial it in for single cups. It steeps the coffee before letting it out into the cup and its just amazing.

Dump in water, dump in coffee, press button. Costs 1/5 of a Keurig, no filters, requires a quick rinse of a filter each use. Can use any damn coffee you want forever! Seriously, Keurig has snowed all you who use them. Not to mention the damn waste. I've walked into office break rooms and seen trashcans almost running over with the stupid plastic k-cups. Keurig coffee is overpriced, the machines are overpriced, and the coffee is beyond sub par. You'll get better coffee from the machine I linked and it will cost you probably around $.05 a cup and t he convenience is absolutely comparable.

A little background here. I am from Nicaragua, and i've been a coffe drinker since before i was a year old.

We are given cafe con leche mixed with sweet cookies mixed in as a mush as kids.

Anyway, i've tried all kinds of coffee brewing types. From the chorreado wich is the way the haciendas/fincas/plantations make coffee, to french pressed, cuban style (stove top), etc etc.

I am not looking for a better way to brew coffee, i basically use this little coffee maker 'cause i'm too lazy to make coffee any other way in the morning.

I am currently using Dunkin' Donuts coffee which to me is pretty good.

I have tried maxwell house, folger's, and they taste terrible. My question is, is there any coffee out there that tastes like dunkin' donuts coffee? I am just trying to save some money as dunkin donuts coffee has drastically gone up in price since the company changed its image and trying to be more like starbucks.

I like central american coffee cafe britt from costa rica, and especially dipilto shade grown from nicaragua, hell even cafe 1800 is ok, but using this single serve coffee maker i am looking for a coffee grind like dunkin' donuts. something not too strong, and that makes a good tastintg cup of coffee...

so , anyone care to suggest a coffee grind/brand?

u/nv00212 · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I got one of these from my Reddit Secret Santa last year, and I love it! Even if you aren't a coffee drinker, you can use the hot water for tea, hot chocolate, oatmeal, ramen, basically anything you'd need to boil water for. Most dorms don't have a stove or microwave, and who wants to go to the community kitchen for a 2 am cup of tea? Congrats on your graduation, college is going to be so exciting for you! Would you like a falafel with that?

I took a sip of something poison, but I'll hold on tight
