This spreadsheet is the one that's been compiled by the Google engineer who tests a bunch of the USB-C accessories on the market. Basically, just follow his reviews, he personally tests all of them then posts whether or not they pass. I got the 2 pack of 2m braided cables that passed his tests, I love them. They're USB 2.0, but I rarely need USB 3.0 in my cables. Just keep an eye out for that if you want 3.0.

Is it safe to assume that if a particular brand and length of USB type C cable was approved by Benson in his testing, that a cable of the same brand but of longer length would also be?
In particular, these cables from Cable Matters. I use one for my keyboard, but not sure if I should stick it in my Galaxy S8.
