Go with your gut and do the t2i + 50mm 1.8. I have both lenses with this body, they are both excellent. The 1.4 is much heavier and I guess optically better, stopped down they are about the same. It is 4x the price and only 2/3rds of a stop faster. This difference with the t2i is negligible.

For street photog., this is exactly what you need. Keep in mind that with the crop sensor(t2i) scaling you're essentially getting a very nice portrait lens(~80mm). The 35mm lens you mentioned will not be wide enough on this body to make any difference, if you want something wide, cheap and awesome, get this, even used: http://www.amazon.com/Canon-17-85mm-4-5-6-Stabilized-Digital/dp/B0002Y5WXO
It's fantastic. I shot all of this with the t2i and that lens.

14-42mm kit lens, 25mm f1.7, and Canon 17-85mm using this adaptor. Thanks!

Its a Canon 70d w/ 18-135mm lens and 17-85mm Lens (the 17-85mm is the one that clicks when it is focusing) For a microphone he uses a Rode VMPR VideoMic Pro R. He used the NEEWER 160 LED light for the ursla series. To mount the microphone and light he used something like the Eynpire Camera Triple Mount.

Assuming you mean this one, it lists on Amazon for $499, so that goes above the budget you said you had, unless you intend to buy it used.

If you can afford it I'd definitely go with that, but as I mentioned, it's more than you said you had to spend.
