Okay, brace yourself lmao.

I have an odd wheat allergy/intolerance (not sure what to call it but it's called WDEIA if you're interested). I was very lazy with it and it made things a lot worse regarding flare ups/blushing etc. The first step was cut out/cut down on wheat, shitty fried foods and dairy. I feel combating inflammation from the inside first was a massive step forward.

As for skin care products these are the ones I swear by (personal preference). I'm a red head white scottish guy so my skin is sensitive as hell but also tough as hell.

Naissance Witch Hazel (Not sure if this is an ideal "cleanser" for all or at all but it has worked for me, it does a better job than any standard face washes have done for me.)

Lacura Healthy Glow Toner 5% Glycolic Acid (this stuff is a clone of Pixi Beauty Glow and seems to stand up pretty well to it, Amazon sell it for £15.99 but it's only £3.99 in Aldi and it never seems to be in stock unless you're lucky. Apparently they do beauty events a lot so keep an eye out for that.)

The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% (A great anti inflammatory for the skin, Niacin is a B vitamin so it's key to get this any way you can.)

Cliganic Cold Pressed Jojoba Oil (Most moisturisers I found were loaded with alcohols I was trying to avoid as much as possible and the good ones were kinda expensive (not always the worst thing but I was strapped at the time). This is really nice stuff. It's hypoallergenic, antibacterial and a source of Vitamin E which could help with scarring etc.)

I also use The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution occasionally. I used it a bit too much before and it seemed to make my skin very stripped and irritated but after dialing it back it has become a good addition.

I basically just wash my face with water in the shower (not too hot or you'll be a tomato). I apply the WH first then the toner with cotton pads, letting it dry off in between. Next comes TO Niacinamide, a small bit goes a long way as it can pill when applying things over it. Lastly I'll put a few drops of the jojoba oil on once the Niacinamide has dried in a bit. A FEW DROPS is key here, the coverage is insane. You'll end up looking hilarious if you put too much on, it's not a pleasant look or feeling with a big greasy face.

I do this once in the morning and once at night. I'll use the peeling solution when I feel it's necessary, once a fortnight usually.

Hope that helps or offers something, sorry it's so long winded. It's better to have info and reasons over a vague post in my eyes.

What direction do your ridges go in (horizontal or vertical)? Vertical ridges are genetic and usually become more apparent as you age. Horizontal ridges have more to do with nutrition.

You can disguise ridges using a ridge filler.

If you want to improve your nail health overall, the easiest thing you can do is drink more water, and moisturize jojoba oil into your cuticles/nail bed a few times a day.

If you want to try supplements, there are a few ways you can go, but you have to be consistent with it. Prenatal vitamins that contain biotin, calcium and phosphorus are fantastic for hair, skin and nails, but biotin can cause acne in some people (and anything that's marketed as prenatal can be $$). Collagen is excellent for your skin and nails (and bones and joints) as well.

ALL OILS, GRAPEFRUIT, GLYCERIN AND ALOE 1/3RD OF BOTTLE  (2-3 OZ)
EXCEPT YLANG YLANG ESSENTIAL OIL ABOUT 20 DROPS.

THEN POUR INTO BIG MIXING BOWL, ADD REST OF THE INGREDIENTS.

MIX WELL.

THEN POUR INTO JARS AND LET SIT IN FRIDGE OVERNIGHT AND YOU ARE DONE! =D

As long as it says those words, I look for the cheapest, the Last one I got was [jojoba oil] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01A74442I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Q1G3Cb6N4RSGS)

I make my own oil, it's really easy, cost effective, and I can control what's in it (especially scent).

My home brew shopping list:

  • Organic Argan Oil - 4oz/$16.99
  • Organic Jojoba Oil - 4oz/$16.99
  • Organic Sweet Almond Oil - 2oz/$19.99

This works out to 10oz of oil for $54, or $5.40/oz. Comparatively, I was paying anywhere from $10 to $20 per ounce of store bought oils. I'm Canadian and shit tends to cost more here, so I'm not sure how this works out for folks based in other countries.

My recipe is simple - 2tbs Argan, 2tbs Jojoba, 1tbs Almond, then two or three drops of sandlewood essential oil (I've actually been using a half dropper of leftover Rocky Mountain Sandlewood beard oil (that was overwhelming undiluted) for my last few batches. This gives me roughly 2.5oz's and fits perfectly into an older beard oil bottle w/dropper that I've been reusing.

I came to this solution after trying a bunch of other oil blends and it works well for my skin and hair. I don't like my beard to be shiny, I don't want it to feel oily (or my hands if I'm running them through), and this blend is the best that I've come up with.
I still might try to split my jojoba with something that's a bit less waxy at some point in the future, but it isn't a problem and winter is coming so it doesn't hurt to have an oil that's a bit heavier.

The labour required to make a single 2oz batch of oil is minimal. Open a few bottles, measure out a few tablespoons, close a few bottles, then give your blend a shake.

My favourite store bought oil is the Honest Amish Premium, but it was costing me $18/oz

I personally use these things all from amazon. Works amazing. I rub it on my cuticles once a day. Within a week they looked so healthy and amazing. Massage it into your cuticles for just a few minutes. So worth it.

I got mine off of Amazon! It’s like $10. Be careful about what brand you buy because a lot of cheap brands are not pure jojoba oil. I use this Cliganic one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01A74442I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_nTx9BbBK79D2Q

And a little goes a long way. I just put my thumb on the opening and tip the bottle over to get a tiny bit for my entire face.
