But how to I efficiently pack my spherical cows?
I think reforestation is an important part of carbon mitigation, but I definitely don't think it should be the only means of tackling climate change.
Regardless, you've made several mistakes. You're off by a factor of ten for carbon capture through photosynthesis by trees, it's about 56 kgC/year per tree (Annual Review of Energy and the Environment).
While deforestation may increase the albedo and consequently also the cooling effect - this is only true north of 45 deg latitude. This cooling effect diminishes the further south you get, and with a net warming effect south of 35 deg latitude. Adding more trees in the equatorial latitudes would be beneficial for the climate and also help increase biodiversity. (Nature)
Not going to bother checking your arithmetic since many of the base assumptions are wrong, but it's still good to think about the math behind what it'd actually take address climate change on a global scale. I recommend you read Consider a Spherical Cow. It's a great book on environmental problem solving. Understandable for interested people who aren't in the STEM field and shows you how to solve for approximate solutions to real world problems. I think it gives really good insight into a variety of environmental issues.
