Das Keyboard makes awesome keyboards for Mac. They are super high quality and mechanical.

I use macOS and I've been rocking a Logitech K750 for Mac for the last 4-ish years. I liked that it's wireless, has a full number pad, and doesn’t need to be recharged. I also liked that it was low profile, for a while. But recently I've started noticing that when gaming and doing any extensive typing, the low travel keys have started getting tiresome. My finger tips are often quite sore after using the keyboard for longer periods of time.

A while back I saw an add for the Keychron K2, right around the time when their kickstarter was wrapping up. I didn't jump on it at the time because I saw a lot of mixed reviews about the K1 and how the clicks would register before the key was fully depressed/make noise. I think the intention was to allow for a light touch but this seems like it would result in a lot of mistypes. Anyway, long story short, I didn't end up going for it but it got me researching other options.

I've decided that I don't need a wireless keyboard (as I like to game a bit) but would like to still have a number pad. Sometimes I do work from my home computer and having a num pad makes life easier.

Has anybody tried the Macally BMKEY? It's a full size keyboard with Kailh Brown switches. I don't know a lot about the different brands having never owned a mechanical keyboard but a little YouTubing has led me to believe that Kailh is pretty good in quality, up there with Cherry?

The other option I was considering was the Keychron K4, not launched yet. It's a 96% KB. They're offering a choice between Gateron Blues, Reds, or optical. I think I'd prefer a physical switch but not sure I'd like the blues or reds... I like the sound of browns and also understand that they're a good middle ground for both typing and gaming. I do like that it's a bit smaller than the Macally though. Not sure I'm as keen on the color scheme but eh.

Other macOS specific boards I've seen are the Das Keyboard Pro for Mac and the M87 Velocifire. I don't really dig that the Velocifire doesn't have a num pad.

Anywho, anybody have an experience with any of these brands/boards? I don't really want to buy a new keyboard unless I know I'm going to like it and I tend to be fairly picky about what I buy.m

Heya, guys! I'm hoping to place a purchase on my first mechanical keyboard fairly soon, but I'm still not entirely sure which one I want to purchase, since there are so many options. I've narrowed the switches down to brown or blue, though the latter seems like it's better for what I want to do: both all around gaming and typing. I like tactile feedback, and while I don't think I'd mind the clicky-noise, I'm not so sure about it working as well in future settings. In any case, I definitely want to get a full size keyboard with some basic multi-media keys. My budget is in the $150~ range.

Currently, Das Keyboards (1, 2) are looking pretty slick, but things like Ducky's Shine 4 is also pretty appealing. What would you guys recommend going for?

Have you seen the Das Model S Professional For Mac?

The The Matias Tactile Pro Keyboard looks like it would be quite good too, although personally, I'm not a fan of curved keyboards - I prefer them on a linear slant. But I prefer white keyboards, and from what I've read the Model S (above) has a slightly different key layout to Apple's current one, so would probably pick the Tactile Pro - it just looks more 'Apple-like' too.

I agree with you about those laser light projector keyboards - they look great but probably feel as stupid as drumming my fingers on my desk without an actual keyboard projected onto it.
