Panoramic clarity: Multitask on a panoramic 29" 21:9 display with Full HD 2560 x 1080 resolutionExtreme color accuracy: Enjoy precise colors calibrated at the factory to support more than 99 percent sRGB color space at a delta-E of less than 5.Easy manageability: Take control of innovative display functions such as Smart Video Enhance and Easy Arrange with Dell Display Manager.
Monitor\aspect ratio DOES matter though. Here is a comparison in Borderlands 2. Both screenshots have the same FOV, just a different resolution\aspect ratio:
16:9 FOV 70
2.37:1 FOV 70
The 2nd screenshot is the same aspect ratio you'd get using a monitor like this.
Basically, when you have a wider aspect ratio, the same FOV will allow you to see much more horizontally. So an FOV of 60 might be low on a 16:9 monitor, but it's pretty wide on a 2.37:1 monitor.
This is exactly why they SHOULD add FOV as an option (as should EVERY game). People with different setups will want different FOVs.
Stuff:
The Dell UltraSharp U2913WM is pretty nice, though it tops out at 60Hz. It's flat and has an excellent picture with no backlight bleed in the couple of them we have around the office. Personally, I'm more of a fan of 3440 x 1440 @ 34", but if you like this size, it's a good choice. Bonus stuff: loads of inputs and a built-in USB 3.0 hub.
It goes for ~$360 - $450 on Amazon in the US, not sure in Canada.
If you like horizontal screen space, you could try an ultra-wide. Dell has one for around 300.

Otherwise, try a standard 30 inch. You'll lose horizontal space but gain vertical.

Edit:
This Samsung is a 32 for a decent price and has good reviews. I'm not familiar with Samsung's monitor build quality, though.

Right now amazon has the Dell ultrasharp 29" for $240.

Here is one just above 250 - Dell is typically considered a solid choice and make some very nice ultrawides.
interesting, I did not even consider that. Thanks for the pointer.
Dell UltraSharp U2913WM 29-Inch 21:9 Widescreen 2560 x 1080 LED-Lit Monitor
I just ordered this one: link
According to reviews it is one of the better 21:9 monitors in the market at 2560x1080. And right now its got a discount bringing the price below $400.
Ugh I know. Dell has an (almost identical one) that supposedly $700 (NewEgg, Amazon, Dell.com, Walmart.com) on sale for $240. Tempting as hell.

I don't want to wait for a 'better deal' and have these screens go back to $700 and $400, then come Monday, no deals. Blaaaarg.
I'm looking to hang on to it for now. Also, you might want something newer. It's a Dell U2913WM, which came out in 2012.
oops 29 inch wrong one http://www.amazon.com/Dell-UltraSharp-U2913WM-29-Inch-Widescreen/dp/B00BIBB1KI/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1457442177&sr=1-1&keywords=dell+29+inch
This is the best thing I could find in your price range as an ultrawide.

I use this one, but it's WELL out of your price range... http://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-UltraWide-Widescreen-X34/dp/B016GNX4SE/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1457195623&sr=1-1&keywords=predator+x34
I would get this.
I'm a big fan of UltraSharps, always have been too. There are of course cheaper IPS monitors, but you'd be hard pressed to find one as accurate. Ah whoops, I meant the 25" specifically, but the UltraWides are probably good for media too.
