If you have a rotary tool with a soft wheel, this will take all of ten minutes to fix. If you're doing it by hand, it'll work as well, just take longer. For a rust spot like that, I'd say the order of operations should be Black, White, Green. The black will get rid of the rust, the white will smooth the area to match it's surroundings (go light on that, you don't want to mess up the grain) and the green will polish it back up and leave a little protection on it so it takes longer to damage later.

Jewelers Rouge is great for getting a mirror finish on a piece of metal, but depending on how satin your finish is currently, you might want to start with a lower grit and work up.
You’ll also want a separate cloth for different polishing compounds.
Clean with a mixture of soapy water and ammonia after you’re done with each compound.
(Buffing wheels would be a lot faster than using these by hand with a cloth.)
