Any reason why it should be a U shape?

I like this option. I'm renting a townhouse and I've been here for more than 3 years. I'm not sure if I can mount it since the property has changed management to a larger company and this will most likely leave big holes in the wall. I could always ask but I'm going to assume the answer is NO for the time being.
I used one of these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CXZ45QY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_JOc0AbNCKZ2Z6
You could also mount a large grab handle on a wall or if you have a heavy enough rack/cage you could buy a battle rope mount that goes on them.
Or can I even just buy something like this or a similar hook and use lag bolts to drill it into the joists from the underside and swing on those? Would those hold up?
The strap I bought does not come with one of these things.
...but it does come with two other ways to attach. 1) a foam piece that you can hang on one side of a door, then close the door, and assuming you have a decently strong door, it will hold your weight - easily your 125lbs...
or
2) a loop thing, which I used by looping over an overhead 12ft long ceiling joist. I have exposed beams in my basement. The 2nd option holds all of my 180lbs doing these things, no problem.
