The Z-Wave based Fibaro Dimmer 2 can be operated like a normal switch via the z-wave configuration params, and doesn't require a neutral. I use a couple of them like this and find them very reliable. Just make sure you have enough space in your switch boxes for them (I had to drill out some extra space and buy a bigger box for one of them to fit)

There's also in-wall z-wave dimmers, like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01JLLVRPU you can then use a hub with z-wave support. I use that dimmer with smartthings and works very well.

I used this: Fibaro Dimmer 2 FGD-212, Z-Wave Plus Dimming Module https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01JLLVRPU/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

it worked well and does not require a neutral. I one tricky 3-way that had no access to neutral at either location.

Since I also have a similar lack of neutrals and also dislike the look of the Caseta, someone suggested the Fibaro Dimmer to me. Full disclosure: I haven't installed them yet because I need to replace a couple of the boxes and that will be happening when I do some kitchen renovations. Just thought I'd throw another option out there for you.
