I'd remove the tree. It's too big to be that close to the house. It has branches hitting the roof, and that's going to damage the shingles. It's susceptible to disease without proper air circulation, which it's not getting up against the house. It needs water, and the roof, gutters, and proper drainage away from your house will keep it from getting enough. (and you don't want to get the hose out to do a deep soaking watering right next to your house) Someone made a mistake planting that tree there.
You do not need to climb the tree or get a ladder to take care of this. Buy yourself a pole saw/pruner and just start lopping off branches. It's not hard.

Once you've done all you can with the pole saw, you can take the rest of the trunk down with a $20 hand saw or bow saw and some patience.
