I got this food dehydrator for $31 a few months ago (price went up a tad):

Notice this is the exact same base as the $99 filament dryer (linked below), the only difference is the rings. I capped it with a large stainless steel hemispherical bowl from Ikea (only dried one spool at a time). I've read that 5 gallon buckets (and their 3.5 gallon siblings) will fit over it fine for stacking, but I haven't had the need to do so yet.

I had some PLA that was absolutely horrid, could not get a good print out of it. I bought the dryer and tossed it in overnight (2-3x as long as recommended by the filament dryer chart (below), but using their recommended temperature). The result was a staggering difference.

I then did the same with some PETG that printed like balsa-wood (seriously, that's exactly how the prints looked and felt). The prints after drying are solid and smooth. I didn't expect it to work with the PETG because it's only supposed to absorb 1/10th the water PLA does, but the difference was huge. Mine was much worse than what's pictured in the below article:

Keep in mind that I live in South Florida where it is nauseatingly humid. It's hard to keep the humidity in the house below 50% with 2 central air conditioners. Other locations might not be so bad. I keep my filaments in gallon ziplocks with desiccant sacks, but ziplocks only do so much (corn chips go chewy in a ziplock after a month or two here). I am building a huge dry-box with PTFE lines going down to my printer so I don't have to constantly open it to change filaments.

If you want one that does just one, the flexzion on Amazon works great and is cheap. Cut out the middle of the tray rings, glue and stack!

To save about $85 you can get this instead of Printdry and just cut the grid out to fit the filament.

I love mine.

This is the one that I use. I was originally going to go with getting this but wasn't too thrilled with the concept of paying over $100 for something that could be achieved by a much cheaper food dryer with some slight modifications.

I have two like this. One for the kitchen and one for the workshop.
