Your link doesn't seem to work for me.

This is a legit release of the movie from Echo Bridge. It is out of print, which is why the price is upwards of $40 and the some of the prints have issues with the left channel audio in one of the surround sound options. There is a difference in packaging between the two, if you're in a position to physically check the cases. The dub audio is mono, as all of Toho dubs were mono until the later part of the 90's.

It's a decent release, especially since the last time it was released was on VHS. And was only $8 when it was released, so the $40 price hike is rather steep compared to other releases that started near $20 or so.

it's only $8, it's totally worth getting! great movie, great monster design with Biollante and this is also the 1st time it's ever been released on DVD or BLU!

Thank's everyone who responded when I initially asked this question! I was hoping there would be a big giant Blu-ray box set of all the classics, but of course such a thing doesn't exist, not does a Blu-ray set for all three classic eras in their entirety.

But here's what I did find, and it's far more affordable than I initially feared! "Affordable" is a subjective term of course, and I'm excluding the outlier that is Godzilla Vs. Biollante...


The entire Showa era will be released by Criterion in October of this year (thanks warghuul for revealing this to me!)
