Bought a physical copy from amazon for my friend a week or two ago, $40. It has a 7-disc installation process and I'm betting its on sale because they're trying to avoid further costs of storing all those discs.

Edit: Still on sale

OK, here you go.

What on earth... On Amazon?

That's not how it works in the US, so I was confused... I mean yeah, if you get a discount for preordering, that's an obvious incentive. What I don't understand is the people that put down full price, months before the release date.

I can't see any official reference to Steam on the current Amazon.com or UK pages for physical or digital PC download. Was that image from some time back? Things could've changed since then, since this seems it was said before November 18th.

Same, its always been Early 2015 here. OP you might be a bit overreacting. Also, its now available on amazon for preorder.

The PC Download edition has a note on the pre-order bonuses, whereas the regular PC edition does not.

Doesn't really answer your question, but something to note.

  1. If you look at games that were released in both digital and psychical, their costs are comparable with maybe a slight variance, But not enough of one to make a major point about. However, there are these...

    a. GTA 5: Digital Steam - $59.99; Psychical Amazon - $ 40.49

    b. Far Cry Primal: Both Amazon Psychical = $22.99; Digital = $49.99
    c. Fallout 4: Amazon Psychical = $19.50; Digital $29.99
    d. Overwatch still sitting at $60 for both versions.
Those cheaper games you see on steam, likely never had a psychical copy to sell, so there isn't any basis for comparison.

  2. Pricewise that is true, but it really depends on IF the console will even let you use a 3rd party drive (without using loopholes or other 'non-offical' methods to get it to work). If they are (and intended to be) user replacable, you still have the issue of having lost your save games and re-downloading all your games again (assuming the servers are still up when you want to do this).

  3. Agreed. Comcast sucks, but its my only other option outside of ATT, which i believe is worse.

  4. Disks creak, scratch and break if you dont give a shit about them, sure. I actually take care of my games so even my game CD's from the 90's are still in great condition. Stop using them as Frisbee's. And again, reloading a hard drive is a long process, and again, depends on if servers are still going. Cause you know, eventually they will kill those downloads in favor of you re-buying the VC version on their new consoles. And re-buying means either one time repurchase, or forcing to to pay for a subscription. Either way, you still end up putting more money into an old game you already own.

  5. Oh it is. Its purely for collector value. Which if you ask a collector, a simple poster isn't enough. Most wouldn't understand this so i get it, and this is also a super minor point which most people wont care about, but nonetheless it is a point.

buy physical
PC
games.

The only one here who has some shit to learn is you, kiddo.
