I think plastic lids are okay (I personally feel okay about them) since they don't touch the food, unless you cram too much food in there. I think the food has to touch it to be able to soak up toxins-- based on what I've heard about acidic foods, like canned tomato paste, attracting in much more BPA.

If you have $30-$50 to spend on a single thing of tupperware, that is.

To be fair, these things will definitely last a lifetime, are easier to clean, won't smell, won't melt in the dishwasher, etc. If I had the money that's what I'd get. But I don't and am not worried about glass tupperware with plastic lids.

Even regular plastic tupperware, I bet you would be fine if you lined it with wax paper.
