I have display cases that look like this:
https://www.amazon.com/JW-AD-F6804BK-DISPLAY-Acrylic-Display-Tower/dp/B00MYC5200/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1500953302&sr=8-2&keywords=display+cabinet

This is just an example, I have purchased mine at tag sales or jewelry stores or other retail shops that have gone out of business and have paid less than $40 for each of the 3 I have.

If you want to store in boxes. These work and I have some in these:

You can make separators using card stock. I usually keep my packaged miniatures in the plastic storage bins and then when painted I move them to the display case. I also print out a sheet with a catalog of the miniatures and tape them to the boxes and then cross them out as I paint them.

Hope that helps.

I'm a cheap bastard and instead use varying sizes of these that I can pick up very cheaply at local home goods stores (Target, Walmart, etc). Get a roll or two of non-skid plastic liner meant for cabinets and you've got a stackable storage option that your models won't slip in.

I find things like specially made army bags are far too expensive for what you get.

Not a lady, but I don't see anything wrong with some plastic tubs like these guys that you store under your bed or on the floor of your closet. I would just wrap things up in some sort of fabric before storing them so they don't possibly get dinged up if they get rattled around inside.
