Also just realized that OP is using a Referral Link so please use the regular link instead just to be safe so they don't profit off your purchases :

The link they are using is actually incomplete so it's safe to use since it doesn't actually contain the Referral ID.

>Wired play on PC

>Wired or wireless play on Xbox One

No wireless receiver? Fuck that.

For what it's worth, Amazon is selling this "For Windows" pack for $5 less than just the controller.

u/atanos · 11 pointsr/GameDeals

Considering they originally retailed at $60, it's pretty close to half price.

Compare it to the XBone version without a wireless adapter at $52: http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-Controller-Cable-Windows/dp/B00O65I2VY/. Once they finally release the adapter it will end up costing you over $60.

$35 seems to be a pretty good deal to me, but I understand your point. They still sell for full retail at most retail stores.

Better

IMO. I used to play with a 360 controller. Then moved to a XB1 controller. Much improved. :D

u/dutC4 · 7 pointsr/pcgaming

A "good" steering wheel can run around $250 and headsets that don't have either poor mics or poor speakers are very uncommon and pricey. I recommend the controller by far, Xbox controllers use "xinput" and are plug and play with almost every game out there with exception of 10+ year old games that have a problem with the triggers being an axis instead of a single button. You can get the 360 controller quite cheap ex: http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-360-Controller-Windows/dp/B004QRKWLA/ or go for the Xbox One controller with the same input system and a much better d-pad: http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-Controller-Cable-Windows/dp/B00O65I2VY/ (any wired Xbox 360 controller will work and any Xbox One controller will work with a micro usb cord of sufficient length).

u/FieldFieldOfKoopers · 7 pointsr/dontstarve

It took a long time and a lot of effort, but I've finally gotten a 1-14 Stone Egg% run! I'll be including an explanation and guide below.

What is Stone Egg%?

Stone Egg% is a popular speedrunning category for Don't Starve: Hamlet. The goal of Stone Egg% is to get to the Roc's nest and retrieve the Stone Egg as fast as possible. There are many methods (such as Telestaff strat, Roc strat, and Spider Monkey strat,) but the most optimal is definitely Warly strat. Warly strat involves clipping out of the island using Warly's portable crock pot, then clipping back in on the Roc's island and grabbing the Stone Egg.

Guide to Stone Egg%

So, you want to do a Stone Egg% run yourself, but don't know how to get started? Don't worry, I've written up a comprehensive guide to Warly Strat that should be good for pros and beginners alike!

For a successful Stone Egg% Warly Strat run, you'll need:

  • a USB controller. A generic controller will work, but I'd recommend an Xbox One Controller
  • 13 oz Tub of Petroleum Jelly
  • [a stick of butter]
  • a copy of Don't Starve: Hamlet

The first thing you'll want to do is plug in your controller and generate a Hamlet world. When you spawn into the world, you'll want to look around the spawn area for Cultivated Turf. If you don't see any Cultivated Turf, you'll want to find the nearest mob that can put you out of your misery and regenerate the world.

Once you get a spawn with Cultivated Turf, head in its direction and you should quickly find the first pig village. The Hamlet islands are all positioned in a bit of a curved line, with the villages on the first 2 islands pointing towards the next one. Clip out of the island at the first pig village keep heading in the direction it points.

You should get to the second island soon. You'll want to go around it (don't clip back in) until you reach the second pig village, then follow the direction it's pointing in.

At this point, there's no more villages to guide you. You'll have to keep that image of the curved line in your mind and follow it to the third island.

Keep following that invisible line until you get to the fourth island, then clip back in. You're at the final stretch! All you have to do now is locate the Stone Egg and pick it up, that's when the run is finished.

The formatting for Stone Egg% runs is [day]-[segment.] My 1-14 run, for example, is Day 1 Segment 14. I look forward to (hopefully) seeing runs from some of the users of this subreddit!

Something like this?

Used one for Dark Souls, worked well for me

u/llliterateChild · 6 pointsr/buildapcsales

Price went down by a whole dollar from last week. yay!

The shipping is $9.98 if you buy this alone, which is still cheaper than the lowest price for the controller + cable on Amazon. But if you are planning on buying other items from NCIX and you spend more than $100 you can ship for free.

Just to be clear, this is the same as a normal Xbox One controller with a microusb cable. You can use this as a wireless or wired controller with the Xbox One, but you can only use it as a wired controller with a PC (for now).

u/Zren · 6 pointsr/bapcsalescanada

$50 is sort of the regular sale price for it but mmmk. Also, assuming it's the same model (there's two xbox one models), grab the one with a cable for 50 cents more.

u/AZRAEL55 · 3 pointsr/halo

Yeah, you can buy them with a USB cable instead of batteries and fairly often for less than the regular wireless ones that come with batteries and no cable. Also you can always put batteries in it and use it as wireless.

Edit: I got this one for 48.97 last week, Amazon Link

You don't need a special Xbox One controller either, all Xbox One controllers become a wired controller and can be used on PC with a standard micro-USB cable.

Includes a 144Hz 1080p monitor and gtx 1070. You can reuse your mouse and xbox controller, if you still have it. You can connect it via microUSB cable or wirelessly, using a dedicated dongle,

If you still need to include those in your budget, you can go down to RX 580, sacrificing some of the performance, and still stay below $1200:

  • xbox one controller - $55
  • wireless adapter - $25

Alternatively, you can use one of third party controllers like Razer Wildcat (nice, but awfully overpriced)/Logitech's F310 or the original xbox 360 controller (my personal favourite till this day), Xbox elite controller of PS3/PS4 Dualshock controller or any off brand Chinese controllers you can think of or a combination of thereof. As this is pc, after all.

u/liamcurtis1718 · 2 pointsr/xboxone
u/Sydite_ · 2 pointsr/darksouls3

This one is on sale:
http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-Controller-Cable-Windows/dp/B00O65I2VY
You want the model with a 3.5mm jack. Not because of the 3.5mm itself, but because these models have better bumpers.

If you're a hardcore DualShock fan, you can also get the DS4 to work just fine after you install a program (can't remember the name of it, but it should be easy to find). Very few games have the correct button prompts for DS4 controllers, so you'd have to wait for a modder to upload the correct textures to the Dark Souls 3 Nexus.

Lastly, there's the Steam Controller. It's a neat controller, and it works well for many games once you get used to it, but Dark Souls is not one of those games. Wouldn't recommend it for the Souls series.

---

EDIT: Also, the Xbox 360 controller will work fine. You can probably find a wired version (has to be wired unless you buy a ~$20 dongle on Amazon) for cheap. Your local Walmart (or national equivalent) probably sells off-brand wired 360 controllers for $25.

u/carloselcoco · 2 pointsr/xboxone

Why not buy a new controller? $47 is not that expensive and you can still sell your defective one to make it even cheaper.

u/Hotrian · 2 pointsr/Vive

You made me check around Amazon :P.

Very Interesting. Infact, you can get this Xbox One Controller + Cable for $37, though it seems to be the Old version. You can also get this Xbox One "Wireless" Controller for $46. The difference?
> - Now features a 3.5 millimeter stereo headset jack that lets you plug your favorite gaming headset right into the controller.
> - Now the controller can be updated wirelessly instead of needing to connect a USB cable.
> - Contents: Wireless Controller and AA Batteries (2)

So if you care about those things it will cost you $9 more :P. Though, some of the reviewers also say the Bumpers are better, they look exactly the same in the photo, though I think it's actually a render and not a photo, so maybe they are better? I actually have this controller in specific though I'm pretty sure it's the same as the old version as it doesn't have the 3.5mm port. I don't have any complaints with the bumpers, and after many months of frequent use they show no signs of wear (which some reviewers seem to complain about with the old version).

So I just bought this:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00O65I2VY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And I've been using it with my Windows 10 PC plugged in with the supplied cable. Is the OP controller wireless which doesn't require a USB Dongle?

u/iLyrica-sama · 1 pointr/ffxiv

I took advantage of the deal on the XB1 controller since my fiancé and I use our other two XB1 controllers to play FFXIV and still need one for the actual system! xD

u/Mad_Economist · 1 pointr/CabaloftheBuildsmiths

20, but I've gotta make this half of a philosophy degree worth something, don't I?

I've got no hands-on (ha) experience with the current-gen controllers. The Xbone controller has been said to be superior to the 360 controller, but I've yet to hear a solid explanation of why, and it's [noticeably more expensive] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00O65I2VY/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_1?pf_rd_p=1944687702&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B00CMQTUSS&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1RYFPGZ37WYNCWTXM4EK) than the [360 controller] (http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-360-Controller-Windows/dp/B004QRKWLA/ref=sr_1_4?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1425860462&sr=1-4&keywords=xbox+360+controller).

Alrighty, so you'd prefer a bass-heavy sound signature? That's important information. Where do you stand on treble? Lots? Very little? Moderate amount?

u/nietzkore · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Also, they sell one for PC specifically now, instead of having to buy the play'n'charge kit in addition. Its slightly cheaper.

Microsoft-Xbox-Controller-Cable-Windows is $52.00 on Amazon.
[Controller with Play and Charge] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CMQTUY2/) is $69.99 on Amazon. Both are slightly under retail but not much.

u/TeamRyan · 1 pointr/Steam

I would just need one adapter though for 2 XO controllers right?

And should I grab this controller or this controller?

u/Luminaria19 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace
u/iCeCoCaCoLa64 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace
u/RagingPrepper · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I know this one is more expensive, but it's the official one and it'll probably be nicer, last longer, more ergonomic, and be more responsive https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-Controller-Cable-Windows/dp/B00O65I2VY

u/Gekthegecko · 1 pointr/Steam

If you already have a wireless Xbox 360 controller, you can buy the adapter to work on your PC. Or if you have a wired Xbox 360 controller, you can just use that.

If you're in the market to buy a controller, I'd highly recommend the Xbox One controller. I posted that first review, bought it as soon as it came out. If you can't afford that, the Logitech F310 is a good wired option at $25 (the wireless Logitech F710 is $50). They each have their pros and cons, but the only real con for the Xbox One controller is the price and if you really need wireless, you don't have that option yet (I'm sure they'll eventually make the wireless adapter, but that could be months-years).

u/sixaxis94 · 1 pointr/pcgaming

I just checked and it's already available on Amazon. I'm on my phone now but just search for xbox one controller + cable. It's available for $55

EDIT: never mind I'm stupid, it's wireless. But still, the wireless version is $50 an amazon brand new.

If you have any controllers laying around, see if you can find an adapter for them.

I have a 360 controller for occasional racing games, some third-person action games and whatnot. Better to get this Steam controller, or the wired XBox One controller which is on sale for 43.99 on Amazon right now?

Just from a standpoint of usability and compatibility for anything I don't want to use a mouse+keyboard with. Has anyone used both?

Both the wired and the wireless version come in a box that says "for Windows" on the box. Like this.

I haven't tested it, but I assume there's something special on the USB cable that MS provides with the wired version (as strange or impossible as it may sound).

You don't need DS4 for an Xbox controller. Just buy the PC version of a xbox 1 controller.

I prefer PC over console. I have a ps4 but usually used for crunchyroll and the occasional Resident Evil binge. Tailored towards more single player games like Uncharted but Pc has a lot better games like Rust, Overwatch (better on PC than consoles), and many PC games get patches first compared to consoles. For example Overwatch and Diablo 3.

Could I get an XBOne wired PC controller and the adapter later? The following link mentions "without changing batteries", so is the wired version listed here not a regular wireless controller for the XBone? I'm confused, I haven't owned a console in many years.

In the following 2 links are 3 "different" controllers, wireless xbone controller, xbone controller + cable for ms windows, and xbone controller + adapter for windows.

So which of those two $45~ models should I get if I decide later to buy a wireless adapter???

u/kamanashi · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

The 360 controller requires either a wireless adapter or that you purchase the wired controller. Xbox One controllers can use a microUSB cable.

https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-Controller-Cable-Windows/dp/B00O65I2VY/

That Xbox One controller actually comes with a cable. Windows 10 has the Xbox One controller driver set up so it is plug and play.

You can use any controller on Windows 10 that has a driver available. It's the games themselves that determine if it will work. Xinput being the most used input method now, and Xbox One or 360 controllers are the only ones that officially support Xinput without the need for another program running.

In the end, I would just get the Xbox One controller I linked since it will be the easiest to set up and isn't too bad a price. I use my Xbox One controller with my computer quite regularly since it is comfortable and works with every game I have tried.
