Thanks for turning me on to this, I have never heard of Liquid Alchemy and I've never tried mead but I will check it out!
Allow me to give you a little feedback - you need to use a lavaliere mic, it will make your audio quality much, much better. Even a $40 lav is better than the on-camera mic. This is a no-name brand but they sound decent and would be a huge improvement over the on-board mic in your camera:

You'd also want an XLR female to 3.5mm adapter (assuming that's what the mic jack on your camera uses.) those are only a couple dollars on Amazon. Also maybe a longer XLR cable for a bit more flexibility.
What about a wired lavalier like this? I have these and they are decent. You will need to be cognizent of your body movements though.
We use the microphones that came with that kit where I work. They seem to be decent, inexpensive, mics although you have to pay close attention to your gain settings (they're very sensitive). You can buy them individually for about $40 each.

I've generally found Curtis Judd's videos on youtube to be informative and unbiased. He focuses mainly on audio for video, but there's still lots of useful info. In the video I linked he reviews 5 lav mics, but they're mostly using a 3.5" connector. XLR lav mics seem to be a little rarer.
One more video talking about how to get the best sound from a lavalier mic. You probably won't have to worry about hiding the mic, but placement issues are still something to be aware of if you haven't used lavs.
Will do! We are using three of these should be in tomorrow. The only reason we are going with the Lav mics are because we use a can and don't want the mics on screen /taking up large space
