I installed a Mr Cool in my wife's office. It was $1,300 for 12,000 BTUs, about the largest you can run off of 110V. It is dead quiet for both heating and cooling.

How often does it get below 10 degrees? I live in Maryland it it only gets that cold every few years, and even then only a few times. What I am getting at is if you had to use your electric heat the few times it gets below 5 F it still be vastly less then you pay right now.

I just installed a Mr. Cool DIY mini split in my addition, it comes with pre-charged lines and does not require an HVAC tech to install. It does a really good job with both heating and cooling, but I am not sure I would recommend it for a multi-zone system. It has wifi support and an app on your phone, but the app rarely every works, the standard remote works perfectly however. If I had a multi-zone system I would want decent smart controls.
