1080 prices shoot way up and probably past your budget except for a company like sager or clevo

$1300 is just enough for you to get one of those laptops with the Gtx 1000 series graphics card which is at a different level of gaming from other cards. With your budget as well as other criteria in consideration, this MSI VR Ready GE62VR Apache Pro-001 would be an excellent pick. It has a powerful quad core i7 processor, great 16 GB RAM , a decent storage inclusive of a fast 256 GB SSD and of course, the powerful GTX 1060 dedicated graphics card. This laptop will run the latest games on high settings and of course, tasks such as programming, MS, PHOTOSHOP etc are simple tasks for it. It also has a very good build quality with a solid keyboard and very good screen quality.

No, they're right. A 15" Macbook pro sells for upwards of $2400, while a notably more powerful MSI laptop sells for under $1500.

Macbooks are vastly more expensive than any other equivalent hardware on the market, bar none.

I think Grandma would love the GTX 1060, and a laptop that's only 5.3 lbs. Plus, the pretty lights!

In general then, I'd recommend looking into gaming laptops.

You pay a decent amount for them, but they typically have pretty solid RAM and GPU stats. Just avoid the major names (like Alienware) where you're paying for the name and not just the hardware.

My personal laptop (which I use for grad school) is this one

Hi,
I think the best would be the MSI GE64VR.
You should also be able to get the Clevo P650HS -I recommend to get it from HID evolution.
There is also the Asus GL553VD if you wanna go cheaper.

There are many other options, but I think these are well below your budget, you can get better if we try to get closer to the $1400-$1500 budget line.

If you have 1600, I'd suggest:

The gtx 1060 is much better than the 960/970m gpus. It definitely will stay relevant/more powerful longer than those other GPUs.

Since you were already considering an MSI Apache laptop, I figured it was a relevant option.

Ok I recommend getting the MSI VR Ready GE62VR Apache Pro-001 15.inch Powerful Gaming Laptop, it comes with powerful Intel Core i7-6700HQ Quad Core Processor and the NVIDIA's Latest GeForce GTX 1060 6G GDDR5 which runs all the games you have listed in ultra settings with 16GB (8GB x2) DDR4 ram. Also 256GB M.2 SATA SSD + 1TB (7200RPM) storage really decent laptop.

I think that for an extra 50$ over your budget you can get a brand new gts 10 with 16 GB of RAM and a SSD drive here are two options the MSI VR Ready GE62VR and the ASUS GL502VM-DB74 ROG Strix both have Intel Core i7-6700HQ,16 GB of RAM,15.6" display,256 SSD drive + 1 TB and of course the gtx 1060 VR ready graphic card

when it says Desktop only for gtx 1060, do they mean just the chipset or the machine the card is actually in? the reason I ask is that i have the MSI Ge72vr laptop with a 1060 6gb (no M designation), and if I remember correctly when buying the laptop i read that the 1060 gpu is the same in the laptop vs desktop. thoughts?

If weight is issue, I would probably recommend
https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GE62VR-Apache-Pro-001-i7-6700HQ/dp/B01IO9Y3A6

if you wont mind another 0.5 kg up, then this laptop looks solid:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NCQHZGC/ref=twister_B01MUTUIJQ
Battery in the later model wont be great because it utilises G-Sync - OTOH you will have buttery smooth performance while gaming.
Not sure if there is Sager/Schrenker/XMG/Clevo/Eurocom laptop reseller in denmark though

I went from a 970 i7 6700 to a GE62VR, got it second hand the other day - you couldn't build a PC for the price I got it. Im in Australia so we get screwed pretty hard on the prices but if youre in the U.S there are massively cheap laptops:
heres a doc from a recent thread here with all the prices
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1mGuQCuqlnKLnrkBkNSRNOye2OpBeEKX2nhovfPrmrog/edit#gid=0

this is the one i got
https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GE62VR-Apache-Pro-001-i7-6700HQ/dp/B01IO9Y3A6?th=1
pay the extra $6 and get the 17 inch

the thing is a beauty and a beast.
