Wait the mobo isn't priced out on that list - that's another $200, so you're looking at $1900 :(

Oh, VR flight sims! Which flight sim in particular? The reason I ask is because some sims are very CPU-heavy, so getting the K version and putting in an overclock might actually make a difference for them.

Win10 is really cheap to get (on the order of $10), there are (legal) techniques if you search around. RAM speed really shouldn't make a huge difference, we're picking hairs at that point.

TBH if I were you I'd just get the Omen or the Battlebox. The choice then boils down to:

  1. The Battlebox has more RAM slots (4 vs the Omen's 2) but both have at least 1 RAM slot open so you have room to expand. Not a huge deal.
  2. The Battlebox has 2400Mhz RAM, the Omen has 2666Mhz. You're not going to notice any difference.
  3. The Battlebox has a dinky USB adapter for wireless (basically one of these: https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-AC600-Wi-Fi-Adapter-A6100/dp/B00F6EL6O4), while the Omen seems to have it built into the NIC.
  4. Same number of USB ports on both (not sure on distribution between front vs rear)
  5. Looks.

If I were you I'd get the Omen. Performance between the two machines is gonna be virtually identical unless you decide to push for an overclock, and if you do, that Battlebox is absolutely 100% going to need an aftermarket CPU cooler to achieve any significant overclock, so that's around $80-100 right there.

Plus you can keep upgrading the Omen internally down the line and keep that gorgeous case. Because man that thing is goddamn gorgeous.

It seems to me that your wireless card is either too weak or just bad in general. You should be able to buy a good wireless adapter for pretty cheap. I recommend this one: https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-AC600-Wi-Fi-Adapter-A6100/dp/B00F6EL6O4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1522786566&sr=8-3&keywords=netgear+wireless+adapter
