If you never answer me, just keep this in mind: The amount you need to get the SPF labeling on the bottle is about 1/4 teaspoon for just your face. Since SPF is on a logarithmic scale, 1/8 teaspoon of 100 SPF does not equal 50SPF, it measures like 10SPF. waa-waaa.
For me, it depends on what I'm doing. My everyday under makeup is EltaMD Clear, SPF 46. Super light weight, soaks in fast, I really like it. Totally worth the price (for me). If I'm going outside in the sun for any length of time, I go with Neutrogena Age Shield Face Lotion, SPF 110. Basically, any SPF over 30 is what's important, the difference between 30SPF and 100 isn't that much. :/

I bought Neutrogena Age Shield Face Lotion Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 110 from Walgreens. And it cost me $15 at Walgreens compared to the <$12 price on Amazon.
I don't want to tell you how to live your life. But, if you are going to burning man you should take this to protect yourself. : )

I'm currently using this one but also have one in my work bag that is SPF 70.
Are you opposed to products with hydroquinone? If not, I use Nadinola nightly wherever I have hyper pigmentation and I quite like it. I don't break out much but I think it's somewhat helped clear my skin as well. It has a pretty off-putting scent though, which is part of the reason why I only use it at night, the other reason being hydroquinone + sunlight would just counterproductively cause repigmentation unless you're diligent about using sunscreen.
As someone else said though, you really should get in the habit of using sunscreen anyway! I'm very dark but still don't mess with uv rays so I use spf 110 from Neutrogena. It leaves a bit of a white sheen on the skin so I tend to use it beneath makeup. Also, if you want to increase absorption of the cream I mentioned above and maybe tighten your skin a bit, consider using a Derma Roller.
