Amazon has a 128GB PNY for $42. The 256GB is $98.
I just bought the 64GB version for $25. Supposed to be one of the fastest on the market that you can make bootable, since USB3.0 breaks some bootable functionailty.

They have pny 16gb for $13 when amazon has 32gb for $15 and it gets dropped to $14 quite often and sometimes even to $13. Don't know about other items but this one looks like a pretty bad "sale".
I've been using a set of these I got 3-4 years ago. Never failed me. Mac, windows, linux. I've had issues with sandisks.

I don't know your locality, but did you receive an itemized list of deductions within the correct time period(14 days I believe)? Most localities require this for a deposit to be withheld. If not that's all the evidence you need.
