Wireless it's going to look pretty bad because the resolution is 840*480. Use a HDMI repeater or a computer with a capture card streaming to somewhere and playing back on the big screen.

I have a 30ft HDMI and 30ft USB Repeater that works perfectly fine. The only thing to note is that I noticed packet loss on the HDMI connection, which I fixed with an HDMI repeater.

For 100 feet you would need a really good cable, and even then I'm not sure T3i pumps a strong signal into it. Generally 50 feet is the limit for HDMI cables, after that you start getting signal issues. HDMI amplifiers are not too expensive:

Wireless is an option, depending on the distance, but be very careful. Even if it works when you test it, it might stop working when there are 50 people all with smartphones trying to connect to WiFi.

If you're in a university, they might have a video/photo studio. Go and talk to them, they just might have all the gear you need.

I haven't seen this problem in awhile with newer TVs, but then I saw the age of your TV and realized why you were having it. It is not a hardware issue on your PC and your video card is obviously not dead. You also have the correct answer with the handshake problem. You could go with an HDMI repeater, but honestly, if it is happening so infrequently, I would pull the cable for a few seconds.
