Here's a link to my monitor. I've tried deleting my monitor driver then letting it reinstall by rebooting; I can't seem to find a specific driver for this monitor online. Never came with a CD or anything either. Here's a link to my DisplayPort Cable.

I'm still fairly new to the idea as I only just got a new monitor that has a DisplayPort connection, I've been holding off on buying one until I know what I am looking for. But for most of the cables on Amazon, there seems to be reviews talking about the cables not being standards compliant and causing issues. Only a small % are seeing issues but I'd rather not have that problem.

As far as I know, HDMI can't do any damage like what pin 20 on DP can do. A bad HDMI might just fail or flicker or something, not damage your PC.

Not trying to endorse but for my customer's builds I usually use Rankie cables, haven't had an issue with them and they're pretty cheap :) https://www.amazon.ca/Cable-Rankie%C2%AE-Plated-DisplayPort-Resolution/dp/B00YOP0T7G/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1465662316&sr=1-1&keywords=displayport+cable

i tried 2 different cables which were the following:
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00YOP0T7G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0767F5DNR/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

All 3 display port slots on my gpu produce the same effect.
Unfortunately i have no other displayport capable devices to test the monitor, and no other display port displays to test the gpu.
Both monitor and gpu are brand new.
Guess i may have to try and get my hands on another display to test.
Thanks for your help!

I run a 1808p 144hz display, and I've been thinking of buying a DisplayPort cable to replace my current DVI-D cable (monitor upgrades are something I wanna do in the near future) and as I was searching for cables on amazon, I found this one that says that I isn't compatible with 144hz displays... what?

Is this correct or not?

Can a DisplayPort cable ruin a monitor port? Like early this month, I bought this cable and now there’s no signal. I tried using a HDMI cable and the monitor works fine. (Without 144hz of course) I’m fine with buying another cable, but just wondering if any damage was caused.

I got this one and it works great. Says supports up to 2k (1440p) not 4k if you're looking to upgrade. Just check out reviews and you can always return

Edit: Meant this dp to dp

I have tried with both Freesync on and off, to no success. I have this cable

I bought this brand a year ago, except mini-DP to DP cable. Worked well. Sorry you had bad experience with LinkUP cable. There's just too much choice on Amazon.
