Looks like the heater shoudl be about $900
since it's replacing an existing tankless heater, I'd think MOST of the work for installation is already done.
Last time I had a problem with the price of a job, I asked the contractor to estimate the time it would take, subtracted materials, and then asked what justified $500 per hour for labor.
Either way, $1200 - $1800 for installation sounds high, by about $1000. I'd get a few more quotes.
Some of them are, but not all of them. This post was talking about a gas fired one.
